Don't get me wrong, I expect to have to pay, so I would expect to take my car in, and be told the 40K, or 60K, or whatever service it was, was goiung to be £400, not £200, and that would include the cambelt being done.
I wouldn't expect to have to ask, and just get the 40k oil change if I didn't mention anything else.
where i worked the customer did not have to ask for it to be done, they were informed of the extra cost involved when booking it in for the service that is the cambelt change one and were also told again when dropping the car off.the vauxhall 16 valve engines of 1994 onwards vintage were renouned for snapping belts or breaking rollers if the customer declined belt change at the service then they had to sign a disclamer when picking it up.0 -
From the other point of view,
if it had come from the main dealer, with full service history, fully stamped book, and then went back there for the next service, my service book certainly has the cam belt down as a service item, with the mileage or time to it needs to be done at, and the check box next to it to show it's been done, so I would fully expect it to have been changed without asking them.
We need to know the car, the mileage, what service history came with it, and if the dealer that sold it you said anything about the cam belt.
Err would you expect it to be changed without them telling you tho'??
No it's not the issue here , I realise, but imagine the other post; "garage charged me £300 for a cambelt change I didn't want/authorise" :A:A:AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

As I said aboveDon't get me wrong, I expect to have to pay, so I would expect to take my car in, and be told the 40K, or 60K, or whatever service it was, was going to be £400, not £200, and that would include the cambelt being done.
I wouldn't expect to have to ask, and just get the 40k oil change if I didn't mention anything else, like the last poster has said, at least the garage should have been offering to do it.0
