Hi there, does anyone know if I still have to pay for my Hips pack as demanded by hips company even though it has been cancelled.
They say I have signed the agreement so £415 still needs to be paid.
What you think. ????????

Are they saying that you need to pay because you cancelled the service within a minimum period? I would imagine these companies providing the service are very out of pocket now so are trying to recoup as much as possible. Not sure on trading standards, but if I cancelled a service with little notice then I'd expect a charge.0

Did you instruct them to prepare a HIP?
Did they prepare a HIP?
If the answers are yes, and yes, then you owe them their fee.
I'm assuming that by "even though it has been cancelled." you mean the government has cancelled the HIP requirement rather than that you cancelled your contract with the HIP company. If that is correct, it is irrelevant. You have a contract. Honour it.0 -
I (did) supply HIPs to local agents and solicitors. The last one i did was on the 20th May, the day before the government pulled the pull. I have to post cheques totalling nearly £250 on that day which i cant get refunds for. The client understood the situation and the only hope of a refund is from the government (but don't hold your breath)0

I was just a question, don't quite get the hostility, you didn't have to answer this question
just to give me a telling off, but hey if that helps you get throught the day, so be it.0 -

Huh??? I've read every reply and cannot see any hostility anywhere!!!! CONFUSED!!!!!
Edited to say I see you've only just joined - if you ask a Q on a public forum you must be prepared for all and every type of response.0 -
Not sure if it was aimed at me or not!0

Let me see if I've got the picture - you asked a HIP co to provide a HIP, you signed an agreement to the effect that you would pay them £415 for providing this HIP.
The Government has now said that you don't need to have a HIP in order to market your house, but that has no effect on the agreement that you've made with your HIP provider, as far as I can see.
Net effect - you owe them £415 under the terms of the contract or agreement you made with them (IF they've executed their side of the contract and provided the HIP to you)
and, as someone said earlier - what do you mean by "it has been cancelled" ???0
