Easiest network to get contract
Options
Ok I have really bad credit but my mom has agreed to get me a mobile
She has her own home, excellent credit rating and never falls behind and always pays bills and credit card on time
She is on carers allowance as she looks after my disabled brother so hasnt got a full time job. Which mobile company will be the best to get a contract on? ideally id like orange but not sure if t mobile or virgin may be easier. I dont want 3 at all, had bad experience with them myself
Thanks in advance

The "easiest" is the one that can provide the service in the area your mom lives for the price she can afford and the deal she likes.
And if you are in debit, the last thing you should be doing is getting contract phone, especially in your mom's name and putting her into a position of losing money possibly (won't be fair on her).0 -
Edited and withdrawn in the light of the next post by biglad. Good luck, fella, but do go 30-day sim only if you can on any network that gives good reception. You may even get one in your own name if you are able to give a deposit.0

I appreciate your comments and maybe should have put a bit more info
6 years ago I got into a lot of debt, could easily have gone bankrupt as had no house, assetts etc but thought it was my debt so id pay it off.
I have been on a DMP with payplan for around 5 years i think and in this time obviously have not taken credit out. I have been paying back my money religously and have learnt a massive lesson. I will have cleared all my debts by this time next year, and they started at around £20k
A lot has changed, if anything over the time ive been paying my debts its made me realise that everything i now own i save for. My financial position is a lot better and I can afford to pay the contract. As for people thinking I would get my mom into a bad position financially this would just not happen at all. She actually gets money from the council for me to look after my brother, so if i didnt pay her for the bill for one reason or another she can just take it out of this money
Things have changed as i have stated above so if anyone has any input regarding which companies are most leniant with regard to credit checks id be grateful
thanks in advance0 -
In that case, if you are responsible and not going to be putting your mom's money at risk, then it should not be a problem for her to get a contract in her name for you.
Who you choose is down to which network can provide the coverage in your area (all the networks have coverage checkers on their sites now).
After you know which network you want, its down to finding a good deal...if I could recommend anyone, I would suggest vodafone as they still do 12 month contracts (some people have trouble with customer service with them - I rate them fairly ok).
On other hand, you can talk to some networks like o2 I think about offering to pay an upfront fee to get a contract in your own name. That fee is £150 deposit I think but could allow you to get a contract in your own name then - the deposit is credited back to you after 3 months I think or used to pay the line rental - not sure.0 -
well personally I think its wrong to judge anyone the op clearly asked which network is easiest to get a contract he did not ask for a lecture what if he badly needs it so he can run a business or something which is something difficult to do with our pay as you go plans here in uk. well mate if your mum has good credit then as someone has already mentioned you might want to consider a network that offers good coverage in your area. However if your mums credit is not that good then I would suggest trying a sim only plan with 3 uk which gives I think 300 minutes, unlimited 3 to 3 ,unlimited texts and unlimited internet. Also t mobile have a sim only plan as well which is also much easier to get other than a proper contract because you don't get a phone with the contract just a sim card, and after a certain period paying your bills with errors I believe you can then move to a full contract with a shiny new phone.0

t mobile seems to have a good reception where we live and the internet package is a good one. also an added bonus is i can get a bolt on for texts and calls abroard and my dad lives in ireland so this will work well. moms credit rating is excellent think going to get her to order over weekend, thanks for help0 -

Out of the big four try T-Mobile first
Prior experience seems to show that they have been the most lenient0 -
I've rubbish credit, Like you on a DMP, got declined on O2 and Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile were fine, went with Orange for the iPhoneThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

OH and i are in a DMP, convinced we wouldn't get approved for a contract phones. OH got one on t-mobile, just a £20 a mth over the internet.
I kept as PAYG for a few weeks just figured no way in hell would i get one. But i tried at a 3 store and had no issues, also on a £20 a mth tariff.
In terms of networks, you'd be surpried who dabs into whos coverage etc etc. Only know this cos of OHs job.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160
