Martin, please remove Talktalk recommendation

I have started a new thread in an attempt to re-iterate the issue outlined extensively elsewhere. Please, Martin - remove your recommendation for the Talktalk 3 package!
I accept it is the cheapest. I also accept that there are probably a large number of people out there for whom it has worked out well. However, there are a large number of people, including myself who have spent hours or days of their lives attempting to get through to their customer services departments ("Customer Services" - it's like something from "1984") trying to sort out endless problems with getting broadband set up. I have also lost a lot of money from:
a) Phone calls (because I often need to call during the day from my mobile), and,
b) Because I'm still paying for my old broadband whilst they sort out the multitude of problems they seem to be having transferring me over.
Point is - regardless of these financial losses, the frustration caused by dealing with Talktalk far outweighs the possible benefits. I would happily pay a quid or two extra per month to have back that time with my family in the early evenings rather than spending it on hold for TalkTalk Customer Services.
So, Martin - surely customer services should be considered alongside bottom line cost? How about a recommendation for those people with nothing else to do, and another for those of us who'd rather spend our time doing something else?!

I do not think that fair has the people that I now on talk talk do not have any problem at all and then they have had they have got through very quickly to the consumer service and got it sorted ,and get ring back’s when they say so and you only here about the one that have problems not the one that do not.
they have been with talktalk a long time
Sorry to hear about what’s happened to youthere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
I dont think its appropriate to use it, its a recommendation, Martin weighs up the deals & makes a post as a guidence only. He cant be held responsible for poor customer service of one company!!0

Sorry, no offence Banger9365, but I just don't understand your posting.
Normanmark - My point is not that Martin should in any way be held responsible for the problems at Talktalk, merely that there are now a large number of people (from reading these forums and, as accepted by Charles Dunstone) who have had a terrible time interacting with TalkTalk. I'm suggesting that Martin at least mention this - surely it's a factor when choosing a provider?0 -
I think you'll find in several places in this article that Martin points out the drawbacks of TalkTalk.

I would rate TalkTalk's Customer Service as exceptionally bad. Yes, most service providers have, at best, average customer services. A few are great, but a few, such as TalkTalk are awful enough to warrant special mention.
I guess my point is that if, like me, you don't think it's acceptable to have to wait up to an hour to get through to someone useful (NB: To sort out a problem that they created - I won't go in to details) then that invalidates TalkTalk as a recommendation. The article that you've posted still has TalkTalk as Martin's No. 1 recommendation at the top with no caveats. Nowhere does he mention that TalkTalk Customer Service is particularly bad.0 -
I agree with the above and think that for the moment there needs to be an additional note put in the article.
In fact I'm off to do it now!

Martin - thanks for looking at this. I'm sure TalkTalk will sort themselves out at some point, but I really think they should be providing a bare minimum of service for their customers in the interim. I've spent enough money waiting on their customer service lines (because, though it is free from a TalkTalk landline, we got TalkTalk for home use and I do have to work for a living during the day!) and also still paying for my old broadband (most frustratingly - with Onetel, so they're getting money from me twice) to wipe out any possible benefit.
And, as I say, nothing is worth the frustration of repeatedly spending 10-15 mins on hold only to be cut off before I get to speak to anyone...0 -
After having read a lot of the negative comments posted about the difficulty everyone (including myself and my mum) has been having with getting Talk Talk broadband activated I can't understand why it is still reccomended on this site as being the best broadband/phone package to go for.
Clearly Talk Talk are totally incapable of meeting demand at present, they are not even able to answer phone calls or respond to email messages in any sensible time or manner. Surely a withdrawal of MSE's reccomendation would ease some of the burden on them and give Talk Talk time to deal with their existing digruntled customers before signing up even more.0 -
I have to agree with you on this one!
I had trouble activating my broadband, too much to go into.
Now I am having trouble getting away from them, all I want is a mac!
3 weeks and counting since I requested one!NEVER REGRET ANYTHING THAT MAKES YOU SMILE:D
