I have to fill in section 9 of my v5 and send off to DVLA, Problem is it says registered keeper (me) and trader (scrap yard) both have to sign, Because my insurance sorted this out how do i go about getting it signed? Is it likely if i post it to the scrap yard and ask them to forward it they will?

If your insurance company told you the car was f**ked and gave you a payment that was "full & final settlement", then you disposed of it to your insurance company (so put their name on the V5).

Don't you send the V5 and keys to the insurer when they write a car off?

Just put it all in an envelope and send to insurers.

Let them sort it out.

Do NOT put it all in an envelope and leave it to the insurer to sort out, until you fill in the relevant section regarding who has control of the car then any bills or expenses (road tax, SORN, etc) will fall fairly & squarely on YOU.

You have disposed of the car by letting your insurance company take possession, so it is their details that go on the V5 which you then have to post yourself to the DVLA (the insurance company simply get the section entitled "New Keeper Supplement" as proof of ownership).

Failure to adhere to the above procedure can see you taking up the jacksy for a fair amount of money, and it tells you that on the log book itself.
