Does it have to be a hotel you stay in? Or would you consider a B&B?

No doesn't have to be Hotel can be B & B as long as its clean. We normally only use where ever we stay as a base. When in Aberdeen our student sons like to take us "Grocery" shopping and then disappear at check out! Or on the other hand they get taken out for meals.

FYI Holiday Inn express now do hot breakfast included in the price, its a small hot buffet , sausage or bacon, scrambled eggs hot pastries etc.

Also if you are going to be staying regularly in aberdeen sign up to the priority club and you will soon be earning free nights.

I would recommend booking as far in advance as you can, as you have noticed the prices in aberdeen mid week are not cheap and it can even get very difficult to get a room in the cheaper establishments. if you leave it too late.

    How's it going there Choco?

You'll be glad to get the lads back and sorted, sorry can't really help with the accommodation other than to suggest is checking out B&B's on the visit scotland website. Should be reputable

I see there is westhill accommodation its slightly out of the city but only 10mins in car (except rushhour)

I had stayed in crown street several years ago heaps there and it was fine.

SPREEBOOK highly recommend it if just for the duration of eating out while your here you'll make your moneyback and you can leave it for the boys to use for rest of year.

Food Breakfasts, Rosies on Rosemount do a lovely cooked breakfast very reasonable, The Pavillion at the Beach to the Full Monty, great cooked breakfast but about £5ish. But hopefully that will be included in Your B&B

Sunday Carvery a favourite with most! The Northern Hotel do a lovely Sunday carvery. The Northern Hotel do 2 Courses for £10.50 http://www.aberdeennorthernhotel.com/index.html There is also the Dobbies Carvery but it had gone down hill last time I was over.

    Sorry a bit off topic.

    Good Luck

ps some good hotel bargains on this site http://www.booking.com/

I think you will find that Crown St/Ferryhill B&Bs/Guesthouses have gone a bit downhill in recent years - An awful lot of them now cater for the DSS/emergency accommodation market wholesale and have a rather ripe customer base.

Northern Carvery was rank and not worth it the last time I was in there but that was a couple of years back.

  • Just so you know a brand new Hilton has just opened in the centre of Aberdeen...literally just a few weeks ago. Not sure of the prices, but apparently they have some kind of wonderfully special bed...one of only a handful of Hilton's in the UK to have them :S.

I only know as a friend of mine works for Hilton in Aberdeen. May be worth looking in to.

I just graduated from Aberdeen uni myself, and the last time my dad came up he stayed at a place called the Ferry Inn or something similar? Was cheap, basic and the service wasn't great (there was no one to provide breakfast, for example), but he says the room was clean, satisfactory and it was really, really cheap (about £30ish per night).
