Can I get a credit card now I'm discharged from bankruptcy?

Options
Has anyone got experience of being accepted for a credit card application despite once being bankrupt?

I've been discharged from bankruptcy so am allowed to apply for credit. I need a card by November in order to be able to book travel etc. for a band tour I'm organising.

To be honest, I don't mind what interest rate the card has as I'm now in a position to be able to pay the debt off. I just need a card available to me.

Can anyone advise?

I am not sure but I assume that bankruptcy is still on your credit report.

Have you got a bank account? Can you get a debit card from them now that you are discharged ?

Maybe you should look at getting a Pre-pay Credit Card for example Travelex Card. No credit checks are done because you can only spend money that is pre-paid on the card. At least this will enable you to buy items online and us it for travel.
  • Yep I've got a bank account and a Visa Electron debit card but it's not accepted on a lot of websites that I need to book travel on. It's ok in most places but typically not the travel sites I need to use.

Unless anyone else knows different then, I think that your best bet would be to get a pre-pay card, typically they can be used anywhere the Mastercard Sign is displayed. If you go this route be sure to check out any annual fee or charges for ATM use before signing up for anything.
