I too, have been caught up in the Euro1net issue and yesterday went ahead with Fast4 for dial up.
All I know about computers, is how to switch them on - yes that bad!
Now it appears, that I am unable to connect to dialup as I dont have the necessary modem for my DELL3100. So, I called Dell this morning and they offered me the necessary equipment for 30pds!!
Now that seems alot to me - but they kept insisting it was a good price for a compatible modem.
As I intend to go back on to broadband the minute my line ceases from Eur01net it seems quite a lot of money to pay out.
I was thinking of checking on EBAY but havent a clue what Im looking for!! Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

They were probably offering you an external modem, either USB or to connect to your serial port, if you have one, & the price is about right for that. The cheapest way is to get an internal modem - under £10 from somewhere like Maplin - but you then need to either fit it yourself (the hardest part is taking the panel off the case) or you get someone to do it for you. I know PCWorld used to offer to fit parts purchased in-store for free so you may want to look into that, but make sure you buy from the cheaper 'Component Centre' rather than off the main shelves. I wouldn't trust EBay too much, as they always seem overpriced after adding in postage & you're never sure what you're getting.0

Internal V92 modem from £10 and external usb from £25 at pc world. Normally wouldn't use pc world but if a hurry quickest option, prices seem ok0
