I'd have to make holes for the seat belt but fitted cot sheets would probably be just about the right size! They've got some cheap in asda so I will do some measuring and see. :beer:0 -
there are some dog booster seat things that are like a padded box thing... wonder if they would work for him?

it looks like many of them are designed to work with a car headrest, but a quick google says some are designed to work without... may be worth looking into?0 -

Yes, I've looked at those and they do seem a great idea because he likes to see out and spends a lot of time on his hind legs peering out of the window.
I read a review from someone who had one designed for headrests but she had put it around a split back seat instead and it worked ok.
My worry is paying for one and it being wrong when it gets here - I could do with seeing them in the flesh iykwim?0 -
Have a look on ebay for a dog guard that fits your car. VW wanted something ridiculous like £230 for one for our car and we got the same thing second hand for £35 on ebay.0

The big pet supermarkets usually have a selection of covers you could have a look at before buying0

Check the charity shops for sheets and things! They usually only cost pence in thereBe who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0

I have a waterproof cover that I got from Halfords. Although mine is for a front seat they also have ones for the back of the car. I find it easy to put on and off and it washes in the machine well.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Can he sit on the front seat? Then there's less area for him to malt on. My old car, I used to sit my dog in the front seat on a blanket with his harness on, and it always produced much less hair. The dog did get used to this, and on more than one occasion DH would be sat on the back seat
Alternatively, you can get a dog guard that sits between the 2 front seats, so you could put the back seats down and the dog goes into the now extended boot area, but still can't get to the front?0 -
I feel your pain honestly, my wee pooch jumps all over the back seats and blankets are useless as they just come loose.
I had a look at those booster seats but I reckon the dog would need to sit still for them to be effective lol.

Thanks for the suggestions all - I knew you guys on here would give me some ideas.
I'm going to clean the car tomorrow  so I will have a good think about it while I have the car in pieces.
Hethmar - the other issue I have with a dog guard is he still needs to be strapped in as he has a habit of taking off when the door is opened. He's ok most of the time but I don't like to risk him getting on the road.
I have a feeling a dog guard would pull away if his harness was attached to it?
Sammy-girl - the front seat would be my choice tbh but dd(8) sits there and is in the car more than the dog is. I'm not sure she'd be impressed!
He actually sits quite still on the whole and wouldn't try and get into the front if the back seat was down. I like him to have his harness on though, so he has some protection if we have an accident and also in case he bolts when the door is opened. I don't think I could do that with the seat down...
Hoopylass - he isn't too bad tbh. Trouble is he only needs to make a slight move to drop a handful of hair. :cool:0
