My husband has a monthly contract of 300mins/300texts for £10. He never uses this amount & is thinking of going onto PAYG

I have a contract of 300mins/unlimited texts for £15.

Can I swop my number for his or do I have to take his number over.

Thanks.

You can't swap numbers. Once a numbers been ported somewhere the acc's closed.
There's no way to move a number and keep tha acc open, sorry...

    Renee - A few points.

    1. You can't port numbers from contract to contract on the same network. You can from contract to PAYG and vice versa.
    2. Some networks will allow you to port numbers across from a different network at anytime, whilst others only allow you to port at the start of the contract. You will need to check with the carrier if its first possible.
    3. If your husband isn't worried about losing his number, and you are out of contract, you can port your number over to his contract and use it for the remaining period, assuming point 2 is permitted and he can sign up to PAYG with a new number.
    4. If you're both within your minimum period, the best you can hope for is a tariff reduction on the contract you use the least.

So not 100% sure what you're trying to achieve. If you manage to move your number over to his contract, you'll be saving £15pm and not just a £5pm, as you'll be cancelling your contract ? Or have I misunderstood?
