When to ask O2 for PAC?
My wife's 18 month O2 contract ends 14 July, so obviously she enters her upgrade month 14 June.
A few days ago she took a T Mobile deal for the pulse - 24 month contract at £7.50 per month for 100 mins, 100 texts and 3GB internet. She wants to port her number from O2.
Is there any reason not to ask for her PAC from O2 now or is there a best time to port, bearing in mind she enters her upgrade month in a couple of weeks? We are trying to minimise costs so basically want to pay O2 as little as possible as she is now commited to T Mobile.

Unless anyone can suggest a reason not to request the PAC from O2 at present, I think my wife will just go ahead and do this.0

You can request it anytime but you have to pay the line rental for the remaining minimum months.
So in this case you'd still have to pay O2 for June and part of July even if you terminate the contract now. If anything you lose slightly, you may as well keep it another month and use the minutes instead of a home phone, then requestit on the 14th of June, ane use it at the end of June so you only pay what you have to without too much loss.0 -
Thank you. I wasn't sure if I could time it to use PAC just before entering the upgrade month in the hope that there would be no charge for the final month. My wife has vague recollections of the possibility of cancelling at this time being mentioned to her when she started the current 18 months renewal. I suppose they can say anything to get you to renew.
You make the clear point that, no matter what, she will be paying to 14 July so your suggestion seems the best idea :beer:0 -
You can cancel any time, it's jsut if you haven't seen out the mimimum no of months you'll have to pay them off as a fee.My wife has vague recollections of the possibility of cancelling at this time being mentioned to her when she started the current 18 months renewal. Another thought is to call o2, you may be able to lower the tarriff so you are paying them less for the last few months, you will get less minutes / text but if you've changed over anyway and are just pending the number to be ported it's just an excecise in saving money.0 -
You get a month to use the PAC code anyway. Just transfered my number from o2 to 3 and i had a month to use it after they had given it to me, it then took 2 days for the number to transfer.
But i did go from PAYG to contract.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160
