although cpw may have a fixed price repair for these?
  • Hi,
Although it would certainly invalidate any warranty you may have on the phone I would strongly recommend having a go yourself if you feel confident, - my friend recently dropped his w800i (which is, I'm told, similair to a k750i) and cracked the screen, and his 11 yo son replaced it for him easily in 10 mins and it's been perfect since. The total cost came to £22 for a screen with T6 screwdriver from ebay. I replaced the screen in my w800i a couple of months ago for about a fiver more despite having no technical knowledge whatsoever.

it is easy enough to do and it uses the same screen (and pcb) as w800 (you can also fit w800i housing if you want)
    just found this on ebay
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-Ericsson-K750-K750i-W800i-D750-LCD-Screen-UK_W0QQitemZ140021774894QQihZ004QQcategoryZ68024QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
which is a very good price for a gen screen (a lot of china copies about)

re- the t6 torx screwdriver does it have to be specifically for the k750i cos i have seen some on ebay, in packs and then some single ones ie for nokie/se etc.... could i just buy a cheap pack or should i buy the one that says its for the se k750i:confused:

Any T6 screwdriver will do the job, - if buying a screen from ebay you may find that some traders include a T6 screwdriver with the screen, - you'll probably also need a very small crosshead screwdriver (you certainly do to open the case on a w800i which is basically the same phone)

i've just done a dummy run of taking the screen out, before i go ahead and buy one, i borrowed a screwdriver from a neighbour, it seemed quite easy on fitting it back together i checked that everything was working especially the bluetooth and camera, but the only slight probem there is that the earpiece speaker sounds a bit echoy when you ring out or are speaking to someone any advice on what i could have done:confused:
