ebuyer delivery rip-off

I ordered an Intel CPU last night from ebuyer at 7:30pm. I paid £12 for pre-1pm next-day delivery.
I just called them to find out where it is.
They said 'we haven't sent it yet'.
Why not?
They claim they didn't receive the money from paypal till 8:30am this morning.
According to my paypal account the payment was authorised at 7:30pm, when I ordered it.
'So cancel the order then'
'Can't do that'
'So refund the delivery charge'
'Can't do that, it's paypal's fault'
'No, the money left my account at 7:30pm, it's your problem, you find out what happened with paypal'
'No, you need to contact them'
I told them I would sue them and hung up in disgust.

Paypal is a surefire way to ensure that you do not get next day delivery from any company who offers it.
Same with Google Checkout.
I have seen retailers who offer Paypal or Google state on their websites that using those payment methods will add 48 hours to the delivery of your order.
Sue them for what exactly? £12?
Don't pay with Paypal next time. Use that little card in your wallet instead.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

I tried to pay with google checkout first, and they said I couldn't pay with that for next-day delivery, so I used paypal instead. Obviously they view paypal as a reliable means of payment.Sue them for what exactly? £12?
I am going to refuse the delivery, so it will be more like £300.
One way or another, I don't tolerate companies ripping me off.Don't pay with Paypal next time. Use that little card in your wallet instead.
Thanks for the tip. I was in a hurry I thought it would be quicker.0 -
Sorry l don't understand...you make an online purchase at 7:30pm and expect delivery within 18.5 hours. Surely the order would have to be placed before the end of business that day.
How is refusing delivery going to help? Why not accept the delivery, you wanted and paid for the item. Why waste yours and the companies time by doing that. Just send them a recorded letter requesting a partial refund of the postal charge.0 -

No you don't.
Ebuyer accept orders for next-day delivery up to 11pm. This costs extra money - £10.99, plus £1.99 for pre-1pm delivery. How is refusing delivery going to help? I wanted it today, I contracted with them to receive it today. They did not notify me of any delay. Now I have a financial loss because I don't have the item on time. They have let me down, and in refusing to refund the cost of the service they have not provided, I now don't want to do business with them anymore.0 -
I'm sure you can refuse the delivery and inform the retailer in writing/email/fax you wish to cancel the contract under the Distance Selling Regulations. Amazon advised me to refuse a delivery when I realised I'd ordered the wrong size of something due to an image mix up.
Under Distance Selling laws they'll have to give you a full refund including delivery charge (although I believe you may be liable for return carriage, assuming there is a cost as they may return to sender without further charge).0 -
Although I can see the problem I do not think its Ebuyer's fault.
They do not ship until funds have been cleared. If the funds from PayPal don't clear then it's not Ebuyer's fault, its PayPal's. They didn't notify you of the delay because to them there was no delay. They do not ship until funds have been cleared.
If you refuse the delivery then you will get credit back within 30 days.If you refuse the delivery of your order for reasons under the Distance Selling regulations or you fail to take delivery because you have cancelled your contract under the Distance Selling Regulations, Ebuyer will refund or re-credit you within 30 days for any sum that has been paid by you or debited from your credit card for the goods. By exercising you right to cancel you are required to return the goods to Ebuyer. If you fail to return the goods eBuyer we reserve the right to deduct any costs incurred by retrieving the goods from you.0 -

I thought the funds were supposed to be taken at the time of payment, which according to my receipt was at at 7:23pm....0 -

I don't believe PayPal send the funds to Ebuyer straight away. If you pay through your debit card via PayPal then the money from card -> PayPal is instant, but I don't think the PayPal -> Ebuyer is.0 -

ebuyer have always been pretty good for me.
sometimes you select super saver and still get it next day.
Also i wouldn't of threatened to sue them over the telephone to me that just seems childish.
People have threatened to sue me before for some silly reasons and i've always thought its quite silly0
