Orange £5 Top up.....

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone knew why Orange dont count £5 top ups towards your monthly top up on PAYG. For example, i topped up £20 in 5 days (2 x £5 and 1 x £10) but i only got the benefits of the £10. As i'm on dolphin i should of got 600 free texts but i only got 300. I'm a bit peev'd because this is the 2nd month in a row this has happened although last month i wasn't a 100% sure but i know for sure this month!

TIA x

Most likely a 'bug' in the payg system (there are a few!).

I'm sure if you call CS they'll credit the extra extra's! to your acc...

Topup benefits are based on the amount of a single topup transaction. There are no benefits for topping up £5 or accumulated topups. Its not a bug, its how its always worked. I know you can't always plan ahead, but if you know you are going to be using your phone a lot over a short period, do a big topup (£20) and reap the benefits of it. Rather than drip feeding your account with £5 topups which gives you nothing extra in return.

Are you sure that's right? I know that £5 top ups don't get anything, and therefore won't trigger the benefits, but when I had a payg last year I would definitely get 600 texts if I topped up 2 x £10 transactions in the same month. Orange's own website clearly says under Dolphin TOTAL TOP UPS A MONTH

Im still a bit confused. I know if you were to top up 2 x £10 then you'd get 600 texts. So why don't fivers count? It goes by what you top up over the month, not in a single transaction. So even if you were to top up a fiver a week, surely you'd still get the benefits of a £20 top up?

Apologies! Its been a while since I topped up my Orange phone and that was how it worked in the past. My last topup was 2years ago...still got £8. :) So didn't bother reading their new PAYG T&C's. I've just read it and it can be a little confusing and a bit contradictory. One statement says "3. Where the Reward is dependent on monthly top-ups, you must top up by £10 or more per month." Then in points 4 & 5 it shows the animal tariff minimum topups are £10 to gain the benefits. Thus it implies the minimum topup is £10 to trigger the benefits, and each £10+ topup will be counted in the accumulative total per month to gain the larger rewards. Anything less is ignored, but does count towards your Phone Fund. So you do get something in the end. This is how I've interpreted the T&C's and you may read it differently.
