Probably a very silly techie question

Hi RussJK - I've looked at c:documents&settings/admin/favourites (& my documents) which are empty but if I go into c:documents&settings/account1 access is denied. In documents&setting here is also a Temp file which is also empty, but there is a temp2 file which has stuff from a 3rd account which is now closed and I have no idea how it got there. Iwill go into account1 and delete it and see if that helps.
No need to delete stuff unless you really want to! The fact that you can't access the account1 folder from another user account shows that it is just like I thought it might be - access is hidden from other users. This means that you've answered your original question - why it takes longer to scan using 'account2' than 'account1'. It's simply because access to those files is denied to the second account, so the scanner has to slowly negotiate permissions to scan each of the files.
It's perfectly normal to expect this if you've made a password protected user account, and denied access to the files - its just a check box somewhere. If you log in as account1, and go to documents and settings, and right click on the account1 folder and go to 'properties'. Click on Sharing and you might see something like this:
If you uncheck the 'make this folder private' it should undo this effect, and should undo it for each of the sub folders.
While you are still logged into your main account, you may as well see if you can access the c:/documents & settings/account2 folder. If you can't, then you'll have to undo this the same way, i.e. log into account2, then make the 'doc&settings/account2' folder not private - otherwise scanning from the main account will also be unnecessarily slow (just to a lesser extent).0 -
Thank you RussJK. That does make sense, account1 was ticked so i've unticked it and i'll run the scans again and see what happens, fingers crossed. Account2 was already unticked and I could access everything ok. I'll report back when i've done the scans, either 1 1/2 hours or about 5 hours!0
