oyster card is valid on buses as well, and is capped so no matter how many times you use it in 1 day it will never charge you more than the 1 day travelcard price, (but you still have to swipe it everywhere). Money on it doesnt expire so if you go to london more than once you can use it again, and each time you swipe it on buses/tubes etc it shows you the amount left, and you can top up in loads of shops as well as at stations
Mortgage free 04/03/2025. Thanks to this site and lots of overpayments bit by bit.

Is it safe to leave a car overnight in a tube car park?
IMO it depends on the tube station car park and area. Stanmore is a big secure car park in a good residential, low crime area, so I would say that was safer than leaving it in say an area with high crime.

As others have said your choices for Travel are a one day paper travelcard or oyster card for cheaper fares. Here is the link showing you the charges.

You look at the zones on the map and for example if you were buying a travel card to cover your journey from Stanmore (in zone5) to the city (zone1) it would cost £7.50 for a zone 1-5 TC , and that would allow unlimited travel on the London buses and tubes on that day. Oyster card gives cheaper single fares on the buses and tubes and caps at the TC rate after it reaches that amount each day. So the journey from Stanmore on Oyster would be £2.40 and then say you used the buses after that oyster would cap at £3.90 for daily bus fares so you would pay less than the TC rate in this example. It depends on how much you plan to use the transport system as to whether Oyster or TC is best. If for example you only went to the Museums by South kensington on Sunday that is return off peak journey on the tube at £1.80 x2, so only £3.60 compared with £5.60 for a zone 1 TC.

If you want a cheap bus tour have a look at this as you can just use Oyster to do this.

Thanks everyone for ur advice, got back yesterday from my London break it was fantastic, parked at stanmore for 3 days costing £3, fantastic. Only problem was the Jubilee line was closed monday but the woman at the station told us it would when we got there on the friday, she told us to go to Edgeware and then get a bus from there to stanmore, really easy. Will definetely use this car park again.
