I cant see anything in his feedback to suggest he's a car trader. Looks to be a biker and might work in that industry?

Since when did having 2 vehicles for sale at the same time make you a car trader? I've sold 2 cars at the same time in the past but I'm not a trader.

Paranoia! You should have asked all these questions before bidding on the auction and if I was the seller I'd be extremely !!!!ed off if you decided not to go through with the sale.

Traders pretending to be private sellers

As blued says where in any of his feedback in the past 2.5 years has he sold a car?

OP why bid if you are not sure?

    No.

    Just don't buy his van.

He won the item. Unless its not as described, he's contractually obliged to complete the deal or leave himself liable to being sued. Sellers on Ebay have sued buyers in the past.

While they might be the official ebay rules you wont find me shelling out if it doesn't stack up.

If its not as described, fair enough. But if it was and you welched out on something I sold for more than a couple of hundred quid, you'd find yourself in small claims court.

Could be his first on eBay. We have no idea how many he's done in the past on Gumtree and other places.

I nearly bought an old Toyota automatic couple of months ago locally on eBay. Between me placing my bid and the auction ending, the seller got a neg feedback from someone regarding a car he had sold on eBay a few weeks beforehand needing alot of work doing which wasn't described in the auction. Turned out the seller was a dealer selling his old part ex's from home.

The guy has 100% positive feedback from 490 transactions of varying values. Do you really think he'll risk that selling a 'dodgy' van that he could sell some other way? I doubt it. I wouldn't be in the slightest bit worried. You bought the van, complete the sale. Either that or close your account, ebay doesn't need non paying, timewasting bidders.

ok update all. Have called garages and verified service history and miles. Am going up sun to pick it up. Have also arranged for him to put it thru MOT in meantime and add it to the price. Call it paranoia, i call it thoroughness....Second hand car buying is a mugs game isnt it ?! Thanks for opinions and input.

It's fair enough to be thorough but maybe next time do it before you bid on the auction!
