Just won this van on ebay. Looks good but when i called the blke he explained he had only had it 2 months. DISSAPOINTED. I asked if he was a trader but he said he wasn't. Asked why he was selling it says he doesnt like the shape and abit big. Cant help but be weary!

If he's not a trader, why is he also selling this Citroen C3 on gumtree (same name and mobile number on both ads)

He looks like a motorbike trader/breaker.
Maybe the van was the company van and the car was his own, or traded against a bike.

    No.

    Just don't buy his van.

He maybe lied to you about being a trader or not. Sounds like a good reason to not go through with it.

Though I have to say, questions like "why are you selling it?" should really be asked before bidding, don't you think?

If you go through his feedback, it all relates to cars and motorbikes. My guess is he's buying them and doing them up. I would seriously doubt his integrity it looks like he's trading without the comeback of a dealer. The car is only mot'd till june 2010, maybe he hoped to put an mot on but found it needed too much work.

Yeh im in Leics aswell, long journey. Better safe than sorry. Yes i did ask if he was a trader before bidding and why he was selling. He said no he just wanted a smaller van and it was a too 'flat' shape he prefered cone shaped! Then the doubt began... I dont think im in the wrong for bidding, this has all come to light afterwards.

34 K seems low. He said a painter had it before and from services appears to be in Donny. Then that other car 03 with 44k.

The reality is if someone would have said to me 'yeh im a dealer and bought it for 1500' i wouldnt care. Im the person who bidded 2650 (and think thats a good price) so on my head be it. As I said weve all got to make money.

Obviously will have to confront him about this tomorrow, although im dissapointed, looks a good van!

As soon as I saw the add the words clocked came to mind. The interior dosn't look like its only done 34k. If it had then removing that tacky steering wheel cover should show the truth. Of course it may have had 34k of hard miles. Previous MOTs may show it up but if the high miles were done before it even had its first MOT it will be hard to tell.

The problem is you have technicaly bought the van now.

While they might be the official ebay rules you wont find me shelling out if it doesn't stack up. I've used my account once in the last 12 months, rather lose my account than 2650! Ill call the bloke tomorrow and discuss, see what he has to say. Gateshead is a long way to go to take off a steering cover!

do a hpi check on it before you go?

Ask him for the V5 serial number and do your own MOT info check on it.

I've seen it before. Traders pretending to be private sellers so they can off load dodgy motors without the comeback. E.G probably needs expensive repairs before the next MOT.
