RECIPE
480 gm All-purpose flour...
...
300 gm Barbados sugar
Hi DT
Thank you for posting your recipe, I love ginger cake so I'm going to give this a try.
Can you tell me whether you use Self Raising or Plain flour please? And what do you mean by Barbados sugar?
Thanks in anticipation0 -

I finally cracked and made this cake - cooling in tin now.
I dont think anyone has mentioned it yet - but for ultra lazy cake makers like me you can chuck in the first set on ingrediants into the food processor and whiz it up for a bit - and the slowly add in the second lot through the tube. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

Well, you can if you're posh totty with a food processor. :whistle:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I have also made this cake and it`s in the oven now,has roughly half an hour cooking time left. Not sure how it will turn out as I started with all the ingredients apart from cocoa, all mixed up nice then realized that I left the tub of cocoa in an asda shopping trolley.
So had to send son out to the shop TWICE to get some.First time he went and came back with nothing as by the time he got there he forgotten what I asked for. Then went again and came back with hot chocolate powder.:wall:
I really hope it turns out just as good as MBE`s as I`ve promised a piece to one of the lasses at work.
Also I`ve used up all my foil,so it will have to go into a plastic tub when cool until I get to Tesco after work tonight.Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0 -
Hi all,
I currently have a cake in the oven (MBE's recipe), according to the recipe it should be ready in about 30-35 minutes, but I don't think it'll take just as long.
I shall post again, once it's ready.0 -

Don't forget if you're baking it today, it won't be ready until Sunday.
I'll look after it until then if you like. I have previous experience. :whistle:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Okay dokey....
I took your basic chocolate yoghurt cake (which was delicious, btw) and 'embellished' it a bit...

Made the chocolate yoghurt cake and kept it in foil for several days, trying a piece each day, UIntil Day five when I just scoffed the lot.
Very nice cake, very moist, interesting texture....but not really very chocolatey tasting. Or is that just me?
When I scraped the bowl clean of mixture, that tasted very chocolatey. But the finished cake didn't really. Not even on day five.
Did anyone else find that?0
