TV Licence Question.

Hi folks.

I have never, ever had a tv licence. I have lived at college and at university and never had one there. I have lived in rented accomodation for three years up until this past few weeks. I have had the same man call to the door in two addresses that I lived at. He recognised me the second time round (a year or so later, and knew the address I lived at), but I was on my way to the hairdresser's when he arrived and I told him to call back again and gelled off.

My question is, since I bought a new tv a few days ago, and have now bought Sky tv, will the tv licencing people now know that I need to have a licence in the new property that I have just bought ? Will it depend on the circumstances of the previous owners of my home at all ?

Thanks in advance.

Since you have a TV and Sky you will now need a licence. Nothing to do with the previous owners.
Did you give your name and address when you bought the TV/Sky? If so they may write saying they have no record of you having a licence. (but they might not)

Yes you need a Tv licence if you dont get one you could end up in court and get a big fine so its cheaper just to get one.

Whoever you bought your new TV etc from is obliged by law to give your details to the TV licence guys, so you will get a letter (if you haven't already bought a licence by then) with the licence form included to complete.

    Hi Folks,

Bought it from play.com Will they want the money from that date or what, do you think ?

I see it is up to almost £150 a year. I realise you can pay by direct debit, but still...!

If you haven't already done so then get a licence asap.

    Will stop any grief

If you can afford Sky then you can afford a licence to watch it. Sky will cost you considerably more than £150 a year!
