Only for the first two or three months, it sort of becomes background after that. :)

I used a liberator cat collar on my cat who used to bring in between 3-5 birds a week and it went down to no kills at all. (appart from the mice and they dont do a collar for them) After wearing one for 18 months he stopped even trying for the birds and never caught another for the rest of his life. (10 years ish)

Yes the beeping can drive you round the bend sometimes especially when the cat is constantly scratching the collar to try and get it off. Yes they hate wearing the collar but they do get used to it eventually.
Its a case of how much you want to not have to clear up bird corpses as to wether its worth it.

Our one year old cat brought in a robin about an hour ago, his first bird kill and Ive ordered a new one without hesitation.

Can you tell me where from please?
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D
  • <petsupermarket.com> (it wont let me forward web addresses) found them here for £14.99. Hope this helps
Yes thats who I ordered mine from but I dont think Im going to get it.
Last year I tried to buy one and from what I could gather Hi Craft (who make the collar) had been bought out and the new owners discontinued the line.
Ive been trawling the internet ever since and found this site but after waiting a week (cat got a wren this morning) I called them again and was told that their suppliers have no idea when they will get more in. I suspect their had a few left over from a job lot or will try to pass of the 'willana lifesciences cat alert collar' as the hi life one.

Will let you know if there is any progress.

    Hi just found this...

    PetPlanet.co.uk Shop Resources

The new Liberator is an audio visual alarm cat collar which prevents cats from catching our essential garden and bird life. Unique and fully endorsed by Rolf Harris, this collar is the answer to the appalling loss of wild birds - research suggests that approximately 70 million birds are killed in the UK alone. Occasionally sounding "Liberator" is non invasive to cats and humans and does not inhibit the natural hunting instinct nor does it prevent rodent catching. Now even cats can do their bit for conservation.....£9.99

    hope this helps ....

I have just purchased a Hi-Craft Liberator collar from Pets @ Home for £9.99.
It isn't on their website (that I can see) but they did have a couple on the shelf pegs in store. If you're looking for one it may be worth checking your local Pets @ Home and asking them to check stock if there isn't any on display.
