Where can I buy a Liberator cat collar?

Hi,
My lovely new (we've had him for 4 months but he's 18months old) cat has been hunting birds. I've heard of a cat collar called a Liberator that beeps when they're about to pounce but I can't find anywhere that sells them. Or a similar item.
Can anyone help please?
Kind regards,
Tammy86

I dont think 7 seconds is long enough! Plus could you imagine how annoying that would be? My cat is like lightening Its so frustrating. You would of thought that there would be a HUGE market for sonic cat collars.

You could just get a cat collar with a bell on

Unfortunately, he's already got a bell on him, but it makes no difference. I don't think the baby blackbirds know what the noise means or maybe he's just too fast...

Snap me too - two birds last week - one rescued and one dead unfortunately - I think the bell should be on their tails instead of collers as my kitten shakes her bum when she pounces not her head!!!
2010 has got to be better than the last two years!! :rotfl:

Weight loss to date: 3 Stone & 5lbs!! Weight loss this week: 2 lbs !!:j
  • We loved Liberator collars - they were the only things that kept our murderous cat under control. But she lost the last one a while ago, and even with three bells on her ordinary collar, she's bringing us at least three birds a week. I've done lots of research on this, and it appears that the makers of the Liberator, Hi-Craft Limited, were bought out by their management, Petlife Ventures Limited, but they went into receivership in October 2009. So that's that, it would appear, unless another manufacturer can take over the patent and make similar collars. I've looked everywhere online, called my vet, checked the local pet-shops - and they're all out of stock. Boo! And it was such an excellent product - much better than the one now recommended by the RSPB, which beeps every seven seconds, even if the cat is lying coma-like, and drives you demented.
  • I too found the Liberator the ONLY thing that cut down the carnage caused by my cat. Although impossible to find a replacement as 'beep' was growing fainter, I have just managed to have the batteries replaced for £2.00 and its now working again good as new. Yey!

Hope some manufacturer takes over this product soon - if they get it on one of the shopping channels I'm sure they would shift enough to make it worthwhile?

Doesn't the beeping drive the cat & owner mad?

Only for the first two or three months, it sort of becomes background after that. :)

I used a liberator cat collar on my cat who used to bring in between 3-5 birds a week and it went down to no kills at all. (appart from the mice and they dont do a collar for them) After wearing one for 18 months he stopped even trying for the birds and never caught another for the rest of his life. (10 years ish)

Yes the beeping can drive you round the bend sometimes especially when the cat is constantly scratching the collar to try and get it off. Yes they hate wearing the collar but they do get used to it eventually.
Its a case of how much you want to not have to clear up bird corpses as to wether its worth it.

Our one year old cat brought in a robin about an hour ago, his first bird kill and Ive ordered a new one without hesitation.
