I just wanted to get some opinions from people here. How do you feel about buying things for yourself like clothes and that sort of thing. I mean really, they are essential, however, spending a lot of money isn't - how do you draw the line at what you need and what you'd pay for something?Adam's diary - My Debt Diary - The Challenge | LBM May 2010 with £23,343.35 | £16,141.46 to go...

Well done on the new loan balance!
I can't really talk too much about clothes spending after my weekend spree but it is hard to find a balance. I guess it depends how much it is and how much you really need it. I think you probably need to think how much is a good price for whatever it is you want. You can't be expected to go without completely

I haven't really needed anything so far, last years stuff is still ok.
Anything I do need will be brought from places like Primark or New Look.
The hard part has been not buying anything new for nights out, girls always think people will remember they have worn the outfit before! At the moment I have been borrowing a friends clothes for nights out, very MSE lol!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

I recently bought a new pair of boots because my Mum told me money saving does not extend to walking around in shoes that have holes in them! :rotfl:
Still shopped round for the best price though.
I think things like shoes, jeans and coats can't be skimped on too much and you get what you pay for with these.
I'm lucky as I love the whole vintage thing and rather than paying Topshop for a replica of this at £50 a throw I'd rather spend a few hours in the charity shop and find a genuine thing for £2!Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -

I just bought a couple of jackets and trainers - I kind of needed them, but felt guilty after.Adam's diary - My Debt Diary - The Challenge | LBM May 2010 with £23,343.35 | £16,141.46 to go...
