    Thank you.

I've since found out I can use violet syrup instead ... but have no idea where to find that either ...

I also found a 2 yr old thread in I wanna buy it or do it, so link there as well in case they can all be merged.

Thanks to everyone that responded, either via here or via pm. I've found violet syrup now - no delis here that sell it - but I found a best price online at The Whisky Exchange of all places (if anyone else wants any other flavoured syrups) - they do loads of others too.

There WILL be violet cupcakes in my kitchen in May, and everyone that tries one had better enjoy it. :rotfl:

Here's jasmine in the UK. Looks like the same company as the French one, but quite a lot cheaper.

These do a violet one (it's at the bottom of the list) and it's very good,I've bought it several times.
Also there's a brand named "Squires Kitchen" that do a violet essence and that's very good if you can find it.

It's still the only place in the UK I can find that sells the extracts, so as the delivery is so expensive, I'll plan a few purchases at once and get them all in the same delivery.

Thanks to everyone for responding - glad it's been of use to those that have also been looking for a while.

My syrup arrived today - it's a BIG bottle. Can see lots of violet flavoured stuff coming out of my kitchen.

I did a very extensive search for violet flavouring before Christmas, as my dad loves violet fondant creams. I eventually found some on....... eBay! £2.49 delivered!!

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Only-99p-each-Prestige-Essence-Multi-Choice-/390194004113?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Home_Brew&hash=item5ad9600091

You want number 87, Candy Shot in Violet. It worked perfectly for violet creams, and is coloured too, just the right shade. These little bottles of flavourings are meant to be added to alcohol to turn it into the liqueur etc of your choice, so they are only small (about the size of a brandy miniature) but very strong - I only used a few drops to make about 40 violet fondants. It smells like very very concentrated parma violets

They sell lots of other interesting flavours too....... :D I only ordered the one because I wasn't sure how it would work, but will definitely be trying some more in future.

    Thanks.

    I've never used E-bay ... May need some practice/guidance. I've bookmarked the page. :)

Shame you're nowhere near me, you'd be most welcome to have a sniff/try out of the bottle I've got. If you want to get some I'd be happy to purchase some on your behalf and send it on to you if that makes it easier - just PM me. I was sooooo pleased to find some at such a reasonable price (I bought some rose concentrate from eBay at the same time) as I could only find the super-expensive places already mentioned, and thought a few sweets were going to cost me a fortune in ingredients.
