I hope this thread will help you if you have become a victim from the DVLA.

    Just to recap:

DVLA wanted to fine me £80. They said they did not receive my SORN. I refused to pay because i sent it. DVLA received it 3 months later. 2 years later DVLA make a claim against me at court. I win my case at court as the DVLA had not followed the law of the land. long and complicated. The story featured in the register and then Watchdog picked it up.

On 27th May 2010 the DVLA was exposed. Over 200 complaints came though I need your help. I cant post links here sorry.

I need as many people to post their complaints about the DVLA at the BBC Watchdog site. Google DVLA in the dock will take you right to the story.

    Please post your complaint

Lazy, you are beginning to sound a bit like a reseacher for the Watchdog programme. ;)

Why do you feel it necessary to bump this thread twice a day?

Keep this up and you will soon be able to post links. :rotfl:

    Hi
    Just a quick update:

Things are moving and feedback from papers seems to be good. However the DVLA is taking its time responding to them before any story can be printed into the papers

We are asking the DVLA to Implement changers to make the SORN system fairer:
    They are:

    • Official Complaint Process – must be independent
    • Official Appeals Process - must be independent
    • All refused Appeal letters to be referred and allowed to be heard by the ICA and only the ICA to decide what course of action should be needed, not the Chief Executive. – must be independent
    • Any documentation that is sent by the DVLA which requires the recipient to respond via letter should be sent recorded post by the DVLA and a prepaid recorded envelope paid by the DVLA should be used to send back any documentation. This will stop people getting fined because the DVLA has either lost it or has got lost in the mail
    • To hold the DVLA more accountable. When the DVLA makes mistakes over and over again, a fine should be implemented to stop this happening. And the power to sack CEO.
Can I also ask everone to make their complaint known on the Official Watchdog Webite please. Over 245 complaints so far. Go to watchdog and type or fine "DVLA in the dock" please post your complaints.

Out of interest, are you also planning to cover all the people who lost their C1 (7.5 ton luton van) entitlement when they switched to photocards?

Basically everyone who passed their test before 2001 got this entitlement automatically, but they seemed to be removing it as a matter of course with the switch to photocards and refused to do anything about it to anyone who complained unless they had a certified copy of their paper licence signed by a magistrate, which almost no-one bothered to do.

    Hi Lum/KeithP

I have been researching the DVLA since August 2008, speaking, meeting a lot of people to establish why the DVLA keeps getting things wrong. I guess having been treated like a nobody from the DVLA, taken to court and then winning has made me want to fight other peoples cases. I am sorry if that is wrong.

The evidence is there to show the DVLA are not abiding by the law, and now its time to make the DVLA fairer, more accountable and to make sure it follows the law of the land. There are people who feel suicidal, there are people who are getting not just 1 or two fines but three even when the relatives have told the DVLA they have passed away.

I dont think that is right!

My intention was never to start my case against the DVLA but they are just not capable of dealing with problems. This really effected me that I had to do something. I am not going to change the world, but I am going to make the DVLA accountable for all their mistakes.

Lum, there is a procedure that we are following, and everything that I have done has been positive. I am not aware of people's entitlement being removed when switching to photocards. If you want to provide me with some information, I am happy to contact the DVLA CEO office and find out what / why/ when etc.

OK - I have finished my PHSO form and that is going to be delivered this week. Can I ask everyone who has problems with the DVLA, be it SORN, lost documents to keep posting your complaints on the Watchdog site please. Over 250 complaints now since May 27th 2010 give and take a few.

lazy: If you haven't already done so. I suggest you take this to https://www.safespeed.org.uk. Plenty of people unhappy with the DVLA there.

Other than my GF that's where everyone else I know who lost their entitlement has posted about it.

Hi - thanks for the links. I will let them know. This is really helpful, thank you ever so much!

    UPDATE:
Its been an interesting morning, on my mission to expose the DVLA for fining people unlawfully.

I am now getting feedback from news papers.

My story will be published next week. I will in due course provide you the link and details nearer the time. It does not stop at just one paper, we are talking many.

All that I ask, that you post your official DVLA complaints on the Watchdog Site. Its easy to control and easy to read. There is a route we are taking and we are clear what we want to achieve.

Everyday from these fantastic forums, people ARE being fined right now because there are no statuary procedures within the DVLA. From lost mail, wrong information, to fines, prosecution because the DVLA is in a shambles. Please post your complaint at the above link.
