Do you need anything at the moment? I am sure we can get you anything you or your wife need one way or another.

The next things that I am after are -
Plasterboard
Chimney pot for use with a wood burner in the future (hopefully as I have a garden full of wood from the wrongly built roof)
Wood for door lining
Coving
Skirting boards
White emulsion and gloss paint
There must be other things that I haven't thought of, basically everything after the plumbing, electrics and floorboards are in.
I have managed to sort out the plumbing, electrics and some of the floorboards but will have no money left for all the finishings. I am trying to get some plasterboard for 2 weeks time but the rest is needed a month down the line if all goes to plan. The only furniture we own is a sort of cutlery unit, the rest either got ruined by the builder or we had to sell due to storage costs, but looking for furniture is a long way off. If anyone can point me in the right direction for extremely cheap materials then that would be a great help.
I saw on MSE a free fridge for 900 applicants, I will apply for that when the site is back up. Any tips on this sort of thing would also be helpful.0 -

Ditto Happytogetdebtfree, its also worth putting an wanted ad on Freecycle in case anyone else has had buildong work done and has the odd sheet of plasterboard, wood and Coving (assuming its the bog standard coving you are looking for). Loads of people have white gloss paint sitting around not doing a lot so if you are ok with half pots you could easily get that bit done - there may even be some kitchen units if you need them and someone has had a new kitchen done, then you only have to buy doors which are not as expensive and you are away!!
Hope you get it sorted out,Credit card debt - NIL

1. has anybody brought this to the MSE teams attention or better still Martin in paticular
2. is there nothing they/martin can do/advise
3. with all the backing of the people on here and the help of Martin or his team might be able to get the media interested maybe sombody on here could bring it to there attention
best wishes to you jj0 -
Hi
Depending on your area both www.freegle.co.uk and www.freecycle.com have stuff that peopel are giving away. Like e-bay but free. You just collect it.
Mainly they want it taking pretty quickly but once you have the place watertight, it may be worth the missus starting to bid for furniture. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

My biggest worry is for the future, for over 10 years we have been saving to be able to afford a nice house in a nice location. We have gone without lavish holidays, not bought expensive TV's and electrical goods all so that my wife and children can have a better way of living. It was my plan to reduce my work hours so that when my wife's condition deteriorates I will be able to give her more of my time. Now I face having to get a second job, probably working way past retirement age and my wife is looking to return to work. She is not physically able to do a full time job but she wants to help out. On top of this we have a probable court case to deal with and I have absolutely no idea where to start with that.
Our debt is getting worryingly high because I am having to borrow so much to make the house habitable. All because I made one silly mistake. I dread collecting the post as I am fed up with getting nasty letters from the old builder.0 -
On a more positive note, yesterday we had our first floorboards put down. We now have a room that almost looks like part of a house.0

Yep I took load of photos when he walked off the site and I am keeping everything. Think I have a good case but I'm no legal expert.0
