Disabled Person's Bus Pass

Why grumble about having to pass a medical examination when the end result is financially beneficial? There has to be a method of checking if someone should have a free bus." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

It's a waste of time and resources - when the council could be doing other things instead of giving a medical to people who are automatically entitled to the pass.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

It's annoying how the system changes from one place to another.
I live on the East Coast. I have a bus-pass. I am on LRC andd LRM. I didn't have to have a medical, just a note from my GP explaining that I will never be allowed to drive because of my condition. I had the bus pass inside a week, and it is for 3 years. It makes such a difference!
Why can't they have one system throughout the country?0 -

This is the system we have where I am at home. (Plymouth)
I could understand a medical for those with severe walking difficulties who don't receive HRM; but other than that, it's a bit pointless.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I know people who only have to apply for a driving licence, get refused and send that letter off. Would make sense if every council did that.
I grumble becuase as sh1305 says it's a pointless medical.
The guidance given to them states..........
"(g) would, if he applied for the grant of a licence to drive a motor vehicle under Part III of
the Road Traffic Act 1988, have his application refused pursuant to section 92 of the Act
(physical fitness) otherwise than on the ground of persistent misuse of drugs or alcohol."
I applied for a licence, DVLA refused me, this lasts for 3 years and I have the letter to say so yet they still make me have a medical. It is not their prerogative to second guess the DVLA or to make a decision which is different to the one the DVLA made. They need to follow the guidance as above given to them by the Department for Transport and not make up their own rules.0 -
Hi guys,
I am still in the beginning of all this and have got a question. I have severe hearing loss and could apply for a freedom pass. Can anyone tell whether a copy of audiology letter sent to my GP would be enough? My audiologist refused to draft a special letter to social services and from my GP ,of course, I got only a copy.0 -
What does it say you need to send them?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

That should be fine. If not, they'll write to you and tell you this.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

It says "Audio logical report stating you are profound or severely deaf, or supporting letter" which I think is a letter sent from audiology to GP. But I wonder whether copy would be sufficient.
A copy should be fine but if your GP is willing and won't charge you it may be worth you asking her to write a quick note herself saying on the basis of the audiology report she confirms that you are severely deaf0
