Can you borrow a dog for a couple of days? Male dog pee is great for warding off unwanted wild animals.
I have 2 male dogs who pee all round my garden. Doesn't deter my foxes. Having said that the foxes don't seem to want to eat my cats just prefer human waste food.

I doubt that anything other than a stout physical barrier will deter urban foxes. We have hardly seen any since our area went over to wheelie bins - there is just nothing here for them to eat.

The OP must be spending a fortune on bin bags, so I would have thought that an investment in a bin would be money saving in the long run, even if he/she ends up leaving it behind when vacating the property, to say nothing of the saving in time of not having to clear up.

We've had wheelie bins for years and I'm sorry to say the fox population has gone up in that time. They're very resourceful and will raid public litter bins for discarded fast food etc. Plus some people actually leave food out for them, hedgehogs etc. They have *homes* excavated under some people's sheds:rolleyes: We just have to live with them. My *country* dwelling friends NEVER see a fox:rotfl:

We found putting "Neutradol" powder in the bin bags seemed to do the trick - I suppose it disguised any food smells.

We are able to put all food scraps in our composting bins now, which is even better as the bin bag doesn't smell of food. OP, maybe you could check to see if your local council allows this too? Good luck!

    Hoping someone can help...
I have a garden full of fox poo - it's getting worse by the day. I don't leave food out even for the birds so I don't know why they're so attracted to my garden.
I've nothing against foxes in general, I just don't fancy the thought of trying to cut my lawn come spring when there's piles of poo everywhere!
Any suggestions on how to prevent this?

    Thanks.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

Its a good job you haven't got a beagle dog, my friend has and he used to love to roll in fox poo:eek: she used to go mad, as she had to bath him to get rid of the terrible smell!

I have no idea how you can stop them coming in the garden:confused:

    Hi Jailhousebabe,

There's an older thread that may help so I've added your thread to it to keep all the suggestions together.

You could try these earlier threads from the Pets and Greenfingered boards too:

  • Well, not really, but I hope someone can help!

We have a drive at work and the lighting is automatic, but when near the door. Because of this, it is not always possible to see when foxes, dogs etc have left a little gift for us and it is too late when when we step in it :(

Does anyone know of anything that can be used, ideally humane, green etc, to deter this?

If this needs to be on another forum, could the mods do the necessary.

    Thanks

It's even worse when you get up and find the foxes have killed all your hens :(

Take a look at the advice in this thread; I'll merge this later.

Human urine seems to deter this sort of thing.

OMG Fox poo on your shoe - that must reek!
