Foxes invading garden

My Mum has had foxex coming into her garden for quite sometime. she thinks they climb over the fence of a house that backs on to her. There are lots of the foxes in the area.
They bring things to bury, so far a dirty nappy, soiled bandages, eggs and cartons. As well as this they mess on her path. She is 70 and lives on her own and this is not nice for her to keep clearing up.
Any idea what she could put down, someone has suggested garlic paste.

She could try black pepper around the boundaries of her garden - it's clean, chemical-free, cheap and biodegradable, but animals don't like it.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Aparently human hair scares them away, but this is probably only rural foxes, as urban foxes are not really scared of humans.
I saw Hugh Fernly Whittingstall collecting hair from local barbers, put it in tights, and tie it to his chicken fence.0 -
I was told when we bought our chickens that getting a man to wee around your boundry keeps them away.0

Unfortunately the little blighters come wandering down our road late at night and start calling or harassing my cats (it's stopped now, too late in the year). We're far to close to the countryside!
The only effective deterrant has been to run down the road in my undies wooping at them.
Last time I got a 'that's it Tim! You get the !!!!!!!' at 2am from the next door neighbour. Next time I'm expecting cheering!Tim0 -

Hi - I have the same problem. We had a litter of six cubs living under our shed and they are still around (I'm in an urban area). As the got bigger my garden turned into a fox toilet. I called the council who were of no use at all but they gave me some numbers to call for fox charities. One of the numbers had a recorded message with products that they recommended. One was called something along the lines of Keep/Stay/Get off my Garden, but I have been unable to find it in the shops. The number is at home so I will post it later. Anyway, my local hardware shop recommended mothballs scattered around the garden, but it didn't do anything. I'm just sick and tired of them. Their mess is everywhere everyday - and it's not just me, my neighbours are in the same boat, many of whom have children. The woman on the fox line said the new litter will disperse in August but there is no sign of it yet and we always see foxes all year round. Not sure where they go anyway in a town.0

This outlines the products they said on the foxline. Although I haven't found any of them.0 -

Have you tried countrywide or your local farm shop?0 -
Hi Zippy. What is countrywide? We only have one small farm shop near us and all they sell is manky veg. Farms are a bit thin on the ground in my area. Just occured to me that there is a big garden centre I should try. D'oh!0

Hire someone to sit in the garden all night whistling or singing "Do ye ken John Peel". The foxes won't come back."Is it a strong room or isn't it? It is a weak room."
"The Queen. God bless her."0
