Orange wont Unlock Iphone

Hi i bought a iphone from ebay locked to Orange as im not with them i rung them and told them this they told me i can have it unblocked for £20 +VAT and it was not blacklisted and it was not barred. So i rung up again later this time i was told as i was not a customer of theres they could not unblock it and to take it to a market stall or back street trader and get it unblocked with them because they are saying it could be stolen

Any way of getting it unblocked by Orange as its a 3gs and no one does unblocking on theses iphones

You'd need to get an Orange payg sim. Top it up by 20 quid and call them. You are then a customer and they'll take the £20 top up and unlock it for you.

Unfortunatly they are playing by the rules.

The phone you have may or may not be stolen, or reported as lost and blacklisted. They can't reveal anything about the prior owner in any circumstances due to the data protection act.

Your best way forward is to get the prior owner to call up and request it being unlocked, I think it's done via iTunes, so the sim card in it is irrlevent.

However if the seller has not done the required no of months to allow it to be unlocked then you are stuck for now or need to do it by an unofficial way.

gjchester has a point. They aren't supposed to tell you anything about the owner.

If you could get the old owner to do a transfer of ownership (I think Orange recognise those) you might get it done. They'd need to call Orange CS and see what they'd need.

You could get a free payg sim (there on the web all over, just google for them) and once you've got one, but before you topup call and ask. If they say yes, take a note of the agents name and softphone log in so you can get back to them. And ask them to notepad it on your acc screen...
  • Ok thxs ive phoned apple and vodafone and gave them the imei number and was told that its not blacklisted r blocked but i guess that means nothing?

Buy a universal sim, will be cheaper than the £20.
