You may get AI for £800 but it may only be 1 star

    What a load of rubbish!!
There are loads of AI holidays that are 4 star for £400 pp.

Please explain this a bit more, are you including flights?

    Yes, including flights.

Flights - £300 inc baggage and booking fee.
Car - optional - we can get transfers for £60 and taxi around
or... unfortunately, as we'd have to go the following fortnight as someone is in it when we were planning to go, which then falls into European holidays - car hire will be 400 for the fortnight, so not really worth it as we're looking for a relax, not a whistle stop tour.
Wine is roughly £1 a bottle (of nice stuff too! as long as you know where to go)
Beer £3 for 24 cans or so.
    Then food.

    That's what? £400 + food?
We know where we're going, know it's nice, know the area etc. etc. Hell, I think I've just convinced myself!

Alternative is to drive the 22 hours - 1500 miles on veg oil - £200 in fuel there and back, saving us the flights (saving minus ferries) and giving us use of the car.

Looking on Teletext, there are plenty of 3/4 star, but they get naff reviews.

We're even prepared to wait until the week before and be taken anywhere (within reason) on a last minute deal, if they still exist!

There doesn't seem to be a massive difference between 1 week and 2 AI.

Thanks for providing the link to bargain holidays wouldnt touch it with a bargepole have you read the small print. In brief :-

holidays are not packages but components put together

prices dont include any hold luggage, transfers, or booking fees and perhaps the fact you have to ring someone to get a live price will tell you that these don't actually exist and when you do ring they will double in price. The dates the poster wants to go will tally upto well over £400pp.

I think the point was that there are AI holidays with 4 stars, for around 400 pound. They are also available on teletext holidays, who maybe carry a little bit more credibility. The post was in reply to someone stating that any 400 AI would be 1 star, it was not a comment on the quality of the holidays available for this price.

I'm not quite understanding what your saying. But in response to teletext carrying more credibility it doesn't really, some of the operators on there have a conscience and do sell what they are advertising but how do you know who they are unless something goes wrong and its sorted out for you. Teletext is not a live system so 9 times out of 10 those late deals won't be there at those prices either and i would be very surprised if you can get 2 weeks AI in a 4 star hotel at the end of june beginning of july for £400 pp like you originally said you were looking for. Possibly turkey or bulgaria but not a 4 star hotel in spain, canaries or greece.

I was pointing out that the original post said 'You may get AI for £800 but it may only be 1 star ', then another poster pointed out that you indeed could get a 4 star for 400, then in true MSE style some little keyboard warrior spotted an opportunity to try and knock someone down a peg or 2.

I said Turkey was a possibility in the original post. So I'm not sure if you're for/against, or actually offering anything useful.
