Where to buy items to sell

Have you any experience in doing that?
Do you buy the consoles off ebay & just sell them on you mean? Or buy new @ wholesale prices?!
Theres no margin in games consoles and you only get decent discounts on games if you buy in massive bulk. Plus the games / consoles / DVD / CD market on ebay is played out (no pun intended)0 -
Now you call me a liar as well- what's next???
My point is, thats its not up to you to decide IF you should register or IF you should pay tax just because you say you're making only £150 a year profit.
I am sure there are very many businesses that on paper make *less* than £150 a year, either because of the recession OR because of creative accounting, but it doesnt mean they shouldnt register.
You are buying to sell for profit therefore you *MUST* register as a business, both to fulfill your potential tax implications and fulfilling your consumer rights implications, otherwise your no better than some bloke selling dodgy gear down the pub.0 -
I sometimes buy second hand clothes from the carbooty- like NEXT, Monsoon and Dorothy Perkins or Topshop, Per Una etc and sell it on e-bay.
It can be hit and miss- I usually pay 50p to £1.00 per item and always start my listing at 99p ( no listing fee) and add on a decent postage charge ( i.e postage cost approx £1.20 - I charge £2.20). In this way even if it only makes 99p I do not loose out and sometimes it makes a tidy profit too!!!
I hope you find this useful and good luck with your e-baying!!!:)
PS- I'm not a business seller just trying to make a little extra money and use it to buy treats for myself and my family via e-bay.
I would personally AVOID any seller who is charging over the odds for postage.
Postage is not there to make a profit out of.
You are heading towards poor feedback and low DSR's by doing that.Young moneysaver in the making

A pound shop near me sells packs of 'Froot Loops' (American cereal) that sells for £10+ on Ebay.

Is that pure profit?
ie, does that take into account all on-costs such as listing fees, FVFs paypal fees, a percentage to set aside for customer returns and losses, tax and NI. Is that end price based on a certain number of steady sellers on ebay, do they sell everything they list at that price, if they don't then you need to also factor in FVFs for the stuff that doesn't sell. Also consider that established sellers may drop their prices to keep you out of the competition, can you hold your nerve if they do that? Is the market big enough to let another seller in?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Completed istings only show one box sold at £5.99 and another unsold at 99p.
There are a lot of snack pots for sale for a couple of quid, but no sales yet.
Back to the drawing board.
EDIT: Or the blooming ebay completed searches is broken again for me.
EDIT: Yep, completed listings broken again for me, I just noticed the error message 'not all items can be displayed'. Last time i checked there was a business seller selling them. A few months ago for £5, then he put it up to £10 and had still sold a few.

This wasn't the seller, but shows the same pattern. :eek:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Does anyone remember the thread complaining about the price of Tommee Tippee dummies on ebay, someone posted a link to a seller with about a dozen on BIN very cheap, but by the time the OP came back, they'd all been sold?
I certainly remember it well...:D<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
