Tinyurl and similar sites are a security risk because you don't know where you'll end up. Bad idea to use them if you're interested in any security conscious person following your links anyway.0

Could the legacy shortened links have been kept but just not allow new ones? Then everyone would be happy0

Tiny url (and similar) are widely used to disguise afiliate links. That's one reason it is banned.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

The original purpose of tiny url and similar was to enable easy typing of web addresses. It wasn't intended for copying and pasting.0
