Would you buy next to a bail hostel?

So we found the perfect house, bank agrees to lend us the money. We arrange just one final viewing before we put in an offer..... Open the local paper and there is a story about a bail hostel opening in a quiet little street compelete with a photo showing the road in question with our potential new house, for sale sign and all clearly in the photo. Apparently the hostel has already been there two months and the locals are up in arms. They won't give an exact location for the hostel but its obviously very close to our potential home.
Not really bothered about living next to people on bail but as these are people released on bail with no where to go am worried firstly about any noise or trouble with the house. Plus potential drop in value when we come to sell.
I know they have to go somewhere but would you buy a house next to them? Just wondered anyone have any thoughts or experiences? The chance of the seller getting the full asking price have of course vanished.

I think you have had a lucky escape, I would not buy it at any price."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Ride hard or stay home :iloveyou:0 -
I would rather not buy either, heavens knows what noise/trouble could occur plus of course the house devaluation.0

Nor me! Not a chance!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Nope!
You'll spot it if you visit the area between 6pm-1am on a Friday I'm sure.0 -
No, because I would be worried that I couldn't sell it in the future.0
-
Absolutely not, it's a risk, you have no idea how bad it could be.0

no chance. Not even for 1/2 the asking price. Druggies, thieves and much worse0

Just told hubby about this, both agree what a lucky escape.0

Not a chance in hell - you'll never be able to sell it. Plus you could be at risk yourself living there0

Thanks for all your quick responses. We sort of thought that but sometimes you need an outside opinon just so you know your making the right decision.0
