Bought 3 year old car, air conditioning not working

Hi, I have just bought a Mercedes A150 classic SE secondhand. After test driving it I pointed out the air con seemed to be not working properly. The dealer said it might be ok after warming up and if not he would get it re gassed which I thought would be ok as summer isn't well and truly here and I could wait. It was supposed to be today but now he says he can't get it booked in until next monday. I am now worried the air con is faulty and don't want it if it is faulty, can anyone advise where I stand on this?
Thanks
Thanks

hi the dealer is probably right in that air con needs to be regassed, and as he has said he will do it and has booked it in for next monday i wouldnt be worrying at this stage, or you could always get it regassed yourself at halfords or somewhere similar and ask the dealer to pay. hth0

air cons rarely fail without very noticeable signs, he will be right, it needs re gassing.
Just wait, dont do it yourself as the stuff is lethal and at best can cause frost bite, ive seen first hand what happens when somebody does it incorrectly. Halfords are also very overpriced so avoid them too as you may have trouble getting the dealer to pay up/Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Simple solution, if you are not happy don't buy the car until you are.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0

TBH he couldnt tell without taking it apart and having it re-gassed or at least checking the pressure first. IT sounds like speculation, i would go with re-gassing, its no cost to you and if it doesnt solve anything, then the garage will just have to fix it.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Is the car still under manufacturer's warranty? (ie is it over age/mileage or not?)British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

On most cars where the a/c is low on gas, the compressor won't even work. The man without a signature.0

Thank you all for your helpful replies. The manufacturers warranty ran out on 26th march this year. It has only covered 17,300 miles. I won't start panicking yet then and wait until next week. The problem is, I haven't yet taxed it, was going to wait until it got the all clear, plus I px'ed amicra for it so want to get it sorted asap.0

You pointed out the problem on the test drive, the garage said they would fix it. If it gets regassed and still doesn't work the garage will have to fix it no matter what the problem is. Don't worry you're fully covered by SASOGTC regs ammendments 2002 in such a short time after a sale.
My mate bought a car a few weeks back, last week the head gasket failed. Now THAT's something to be annoyed about.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!
C'MON! Let's get this debt sorted!!0
