Virgin Media help!

Hi all,
I just signed a contract to get Virgin Media and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a period of time like the first 30 days when you can cancel it.
Also is it right that they take 2 payments for the first payment?
Once installed, I need to cancel Sky but not sure what to tell when cancelling as I'm paying £6 more than Sky but getting a V+ box with HD channels for no extra charge like Sky do.

I don't know the answer to your first Q i'm afraid but yes they will take 2 payments in yur first direct debit but this is usually towards the middle of the 2 months so you will have received one months service and you are also paying up front for the next months service.
What I would say though is prepare to have a nightmare! All I've had is problems with Virgin for the 3 years I've had them. I can't swap as i live in rented accom but I would be out of the contract like a shot if I could!
There customer services don't care, all they care about is getting you off the phone so they hit their targets for the amount of calls they take, if you;re lucky you will get someone who understands English too!0 -

Thanks for replying, I know the sales rep who does my gardening for me so hopefully if I have any problems, I can ask him to sort it out for me....0
