I'm a mystery shopper and bought a GW520 so i could hop online and get jobs before other people beat me to them.
Had it a day and half my sites don't even work. they come up with different error codes. and the sites that do work take forever and a day to work. I'm on o2. Is it the network, a really crap phone or what everyone else experience's?

I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

Remember if you want to go online regularly you should get a data package from your provider to limit the costs of doing so.
Looking at the GW520 online, it seems to be a smartphone but not one of the more top end ones. Websites weren't meant to be viewed on mobiles, many included additional code like javascript and flash that do not work on all phones. If you went to the websites on my a Nokia N-series, HTC Desire, Nexus, (Google Android phones) or IPhone they probably have a better chance of working as the phone is more capable at displaying web pages.
The GW520 is ~£90. HTC Desire is ~£350 as a middle figure. With IPhone 3GS 32GB ~£700Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

umm. Well, never needed a phone that did more than ring and text before this so must admit i didn't want to spend a fantastic amount of money but looks like i may have to spend a little more.
Looking at the HTC Smart. or something along similar lines?
p.s i have a simplicity sim and upgaraded that with data allowanceI get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -
I don't blame you, most people don't they get sucked into the hype and buy them on 24 month long contracts.
The best thing to do is list up the websites you visit and see if others on here can get them working.
Then also go out into the phone shops, ask to demo the phones for internet usage and try the websites you want to use.
It maybe a network issues, networks do block some sites for parental guidance and that can be very broad. So can you contact the phone to your home wi-fi and try browsing the web from that?Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Well, what it is i need the phone out and about. I mystery shop and on the forum there is an 'alerts' thread. So, if one person spots that a certain company has released jobs they let everyone else know. One most sites it's first come first served.
I seem to be loosing a lot of work when i'm out and about and by the time i get home the jobs have been taken by other shoppers in my area, so i need the phone to work without my wifi at home.
I have asked the others and they all seem to have iphones but it's just such a huge cost and they use it a lot more heavily than i do as the full time shoppers who are out all day need something very good, where i sit at my comp everyday, just need a decent phone for when i'm out.
If that explains things.
I was thinking about going into o2 and being a serious pain. the htc desire looks nice but the bf will kill me as he's in love with the phone but can't upgrade his contract for another month lolI get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -
If most people are successfully using the iPhone for what you want the Desire should be an excellent choice.
Technically it's a more powerful phone than the iPhone so should cope.
If you'd like to post some the names of some of the sites you're trying to access I can test them if I get a chance. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
The GW520 is probably not the best phone for doing what you want. Have a look at something like the T-Mobile Pulse or Pulse Mini which do show full web pages. (yes I know you are on O2 but it's just a suggestion....).'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

The first comes up with an error. The second says my login details are incorrect then gives an error screen and the third i can log onto but won't show the page i need.
Just a bit fustrating really. Is there any other phone you would reccomend?I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -

Before you rush out to buy a new phone. Have you tried installing Opera Mini on your phone? From your phone browser go to http://m.opera.com and follow the instructions. I have tried the above 3 sites and Opera Mini loads them up fine, but can't confirm if the rest of the site is OK as I don't have accounts with them.
Good luck.0 -
I can get to all of those sites over 3G using the default browser on a Desire. It's my problem, it's my problem

thanks for your help guys.
Been to the phone shop. he did the mini opera thing but only problem is my phone doesn't totally accept it. wont turn landscape when the keypad slides out and the keypad doesn't work on it (screen is quite small and took me forever to type anything in using my little finger nail).
He put a memory card in ect to see if that would make a difference which it didn't.
I think, looking at my options i need another phone? but which one?I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0
