Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Monday 24th May.It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Morning.
All change on the site again. Looks Ok though...?
Some more smilies would have been nice.
Looks to be another glorious sunny day and another day off for me. Last one and then 7 dog watches. 5pm-2am. Next to night shift these are bad enough. My turn to do county cover.... At least I have Newquay Run to the Sun to spice things up a bit. As promises I took the boat out for a spin. Perfect, flat seas, hot sun and a few fish to boot...Its nice this time of year before it gets too busy with holiday makers. Everything worked well anyway, so that was good.
Got home a reasonable hour and potted on things for the polytunnel and greenhouse.
The compost heap worked too, I had several wheelbarrow loads a well rotted garbage from last year and it looks excellent. Saved a pile of money on buying bags of compost anyway.
Popped in ASDA later. Thought their prices had risen again in some areas. 750g Frosties though only 97p!

Not sure what to do today, Bit of sorting and tidying I think, e-bay later, garden, .... pottering I think its called.

Well folks have a good day....

Morning N9eav and all who follow. I woke up early this morning so thought I'd let my dogs into the garden - only to find that they'd managed to let themselves out (MUCH earlier) and have done a spot (or ten) of digging for me!:mad::mad: So I'll be spending today trying to repair the damage that they've done. I HATE living in rented housing (Army quarters!).

So today, after I've dealt with that and taken the children to school, I promised to rewrite a friends CV and then have to write the Newsletter for Playgroup as I'd like to get that out before half term. OH has not managed to take time off next week , but it does mean that I'll be left to my own devices with the children, which I find means they're better behaved :j. Got loads of things that I need to think about doing in our own house so will crack on with those providing the weather is decent.

Coffee finished so I'd better get on - :grouphug: to those in need. x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Good Morning All

Glad you had a good day on the boat N9eav. Its a lot cooler here today but thats fine, was a little too hot to do much yesterday so needless to say the ironing pile is still there.

Today's plans are business banking this morning then off with our van to do a favour for DS' school picking up some drums. That will take all morning and I hope to get some ironing done this afternoon.

Not sure what is for dinner but really want use up stuff in the freezer so can get more barbeque stuff in so will have a route around in there later.

Also really must get my Tesco's online shop done.

Esmf - our dog no longer digs, used to hate it when opened the back door to see what damage had been done, hope you get it sorted.

    Have a great day everyone.x

Edited to say - had a quick look for the calendar to see if there were any birthdays today but I can't find it! Will try again later.

    Morning All

Sky was clear when I got up at 5:45 but it seems to be clouding over a little and quite cool...which i'm liking!

Decided to set my alarm for 6am on work mornings so I can get more organised and I woke earlier this morning so got up - house is nice and peaceful!

Have some braising steak in the slow cooker - need to 'summer' it up a bit...not sure how though! I'm thinking new potatoes and white cabbage; DH will have chips with his.

One load of clothes have been folded this morning, another is drying and another load is just finishing. Going to go and use the bathroom to get ready for work before the tribe start to rise.

    Have a good day :D

    Morning Everyone

I have been a little lazy not posting, so thought as I woke up at silly o'clock this morning I would rectify the situation.:o I have been reading though, and thought oh I must add to this or that, then get distracted and promptly forget, I think they call it oldagers:rotfl::rotfl:.

Diva, Sunnyday and others where are you, please let us know you are OK.

Mrs_M, nice to see you popping on yesterday.

Pen-pin hope all goes well for you and for DH, knew you would have all areas covered for your DD.

For anyone not liking the new look, think you can change your "skin" in the private options (they didn't off me to change my to 20 years old again) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Welcome newbies :hello:
I saw the Consultant at the hospital yesterday, felt a little fraudulent as the tablets given last week had released the muscle to a greater degree (not totally) but much improved, but knowing how the system works and if you have seen on in the last xxx years, you can get in easier if you have future problems, and only being able to give them 1 days notice, knew no one else could be slotted in, I went, and he confirmed age, weight, wear and tear, not serious enough thankfully for any drastic action yet, recommended what should and should not do. He also recommended me to physio, but will have to see when that comes up if I am here, asked for a call before booking.

The radiators are now on in the lounge, and the curtains are hung - will do some new photos to FB later in the day. We have all our internal doors off atm being stained and varnished, we had them like this, decided to paint the white, decided we did not like this, so have had them stripped and now puting back to original:o. The hallways have also been freshened up with a new coat of emulsion and the all the door frames too, plus skirtings in the hallways, so hopefully by Wednesday DH can re-hang the doors and we are back to normal, just ready to go away and leave it all.

Joining a caravan rally this weekend at Newstead Abbey, Nottingham, followed by another near Tiverton, Somerset, and then watch out N9eav we are coming down to St Issey for a fortnight from the 6th.
I had some great holidays in Cornwall as a child, and hoping the weather may be reasonable for us in June, but looks the last 3 days was summer, did you miss it? Found another web site for weather which goes out two weeks here.

A few days after returning we have decided to have a couple of months on the other side of the channel in our other home, so currently am packing 3 seasons for the 'van winter, spring/autumn, and summer, and packing the rest of the summer collection for the next trip as will not have time to do much in between.

Today I must tackle the paperwork, and throw a duster about, but seriously considering nipping to the hairdressers to go short. It has been most uncomfortable in the hot weather, and warm nights with long hair, and cannot see the point in having it long to put it up all the time, especially now going for 2 months in Spain. Also is easier on rallies if we do not have electric to dry my hair. How short, etc. will let you know if I don't coward out! If anyone has spotted any short, easy to manage styles, please send me a link.

I think that is me up to date, have been doing minimal shopping and using up, not much of a dint, will stuff the caravan freezer with anything I can BBQ to take with us, and as the weekend weather is not looking too kind, may make or get out of the freezer a cottage pie to take with us.

    Take care everyone. DG

    Morning all,

A little bit cooler here today,, but still bright :T,

I planted more seeds yesterday afternoon, peas, corgette, french bean, lettuce, I already have tomatoes and runner beans on the go, and that wil have to do this year, untill we get the garden sorted.

This morning I have to take my car in for its MOT and service, Fingers crossed it passes, I could do without a big bill. My lovely mum is following me to the garage, we might pop into Lidl which is next door, she will then bring me home, and take me back later.

Tea tonight is some lemon sole, 1/2 price is sainsbugs a while ago, will get it out of the freezer in a while, we have some asparagus and sweetcorn to go with it. Will have to see if I can get some Jersey Royals too.

Might try and get round to cutting the hedge later on today, depends how long we are out, but it needs it.

Mrs Mix, nice to see you posting yesterday xx

Jayward, hope you are ok xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all

Bright, sunny and warm here again.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips and salad for the others and I had jacket sweet potato with my gammon, it was delish. Tonight is going to be a "grab what we can" night, as OH and I are going to visit his nan in hospital, she's not good at all and the long term prospects are not good either, so trying to support OH as much as possible.

I'm only working until lunchtime today as am going to DS2's school for a meeting about the residential trip he's going on in July, so working half a day today and tomorrow and then my working week is finished and we have a bank holiday next week so a couple of short weeks for me! Will need to try to get the ironing done this afternoon so I can pack on Thursday - we're going away at stupid early o'clock on Friday morning, so am losing one of my day's off effectively.

Have already booked a delivery slot for Thursday between 4-6pm for a on-line shop, so at least that leaves me free the rest of the day to get my jobs etc done. Still have quite a bit of HM baking left so everyone happy - will need to do some more Thursday to take away though.

Not much OS to report, have a great day everyone.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Hi Guys!

    Hope everyone is well.

Just waiting on the nurse to come and hopefully she can ease the pain a little. Bloods being done this morning by her which I HATE!!

The DW is on a quick wash as we are having a new boiler fitted today and they will be here in about half an hr. We also have a lady gardener helping us this morning for a couple of hrs, just to get the front garden tidied and sorted. OH usually does it, but with his leg, its impossible! House is pretty much clean and tidy.

We are having Quiche (TTD as they are £2 ATM, so bought 5), new potatoes and salad for tea.

Anyway, bell has just gone, so nurse here.

    Have a good day.

    Morning all

I still have the old look MSE ?

It's warm and sunny here again, a bit cooler I think but still lovely.

OS wise today - WM is on and will dry outside, dishes need washing, hoover needs to go over, massive tidy as I have stuff for hols everywhere!! I also need to pack and print out stuff like tickets, get my euros (I forgot yday! :rotfl:) and quick peek for some shoes but I'm not that bothered if I don't get them.

I will also spend an hour on the balcony with my book. I'm trying to finish it before I go tomorrow as it's a library book and I don't want to take it away.

Then tonight I'm meeting a friend from summer camp for dinner. She is down visiting her family who live here. I'm lucky in catching her as she is here today to Sat, then back off to the US for 4months!

    Have a great day all
