CALL HOME WHILE IN SPAIN FOR 4p

Does anyone no how to find out, from the UK, how much it is to call home while in Spain without the use of DialAbroad.0

Here you go:
http://www.telefonicaonline.com/on/onTOFichaProducto/1,,v_segmento+AHOG+v_idioma+es+v_categoria+10000,00.html
A bit of spanglish and you can find the rates quite easily.
However, to summarise:
With DialAbroad, 4.03 or 6.73 cents/min plus 8.33 cent connection.
Telefonica direct, 12 cents/min at all times plus 13.5 cents connection.
In total, a saving of about 60-80%.
Hope that helps,

Sorry, meant to put this as one post...
A friend of mine uses the service in Tenerife as he runs a hotel out there.
I'm sure you can use it with other phone companies, but it's probably worth checking the rates (I assume Euskotel the equivalent of an operator like NTL).
Cheers,

Thanks Dan
I am off to Spain in May. Will try it.

There was also a bit about this on the mobiles board

Amena sim and Amena calling card; maybe you could use the calling card from landlines?0 -
Here is some info on the Amena card:
http://www.spainsim.com/amenacallcards.htm
The major disadvantages are that there is a whopping 32 cents connection charge and the card expires 3 months after first being used (preventing you from using it on trips throughout the year).
Although it is a good option for lengthy calls if you only have a mobile phone, I'd suggest DialAbroad Spain is better if you have access to a landline in either your home or hotel. The connection charge with this service is only 8.33 cents, compared with the aforementioned 32 cents.
As far as quality is concerned, I have tried the Amena card and wasn't that impressed- quality on connection was ok, but it took 4 attempts to get connected. I haven't had any problems with DialAbroad.
Hope that helps.

I haven't tried DialAbroad but my in-laws in Spain used Teleconnect for the last eighteen months:
http://www.teleconnect.es/en/902.jsp
The prices sound identical to DialAbroad.
They are now moving over to Direct Telecom who offer a CPS service and slightly cheaper calls (for residents landlines only):

Thanks

I used Dialabroad whilst in Spain from a call-box (make sure it is a Telephonica public box)
When you put your money in and dial the access code 902 902 952 an English voice comes on and tells you how to proceed and at the same time a connection fee of 17 cents is taken.
You don`t have to listen to all of the message and can start dialing your UK number straight away.
I used it off-peak and got about ten minutes for a euro.
One warning if the person you are calling does not answer, thats your euro gone.
A good tip is to only put in 40 cents (2x20cent coins)if you are not sure you will get an answer.0 -
I've just returned from Spain and used DialAbroad on two different phone boxes:
They were both Telefonica and I made calls off-peak (after 8pm) using the DialAbroad service to the UK.
In the first instance, I got about 20 minutes for a euro (5 cents/minute) which I was very impressed with given their site says that calls will be more expensive from payphones. In the second instance, I got about 12 minutes for a euro (8 cents/minute).
My advice: play around with a few payphones and find the cheapest you can...fortunately my cheapest is just down the road!!0
