Maldives in September?

I went in April and the weather was absolutely glorious the whole time. I stayed at Coco Palm Bodu Hithi... pure bliss. I would recommend you check out the reviews on tripadvisor. You will get lots of information and reviews on various accommodation/budgets.Save £12k in 2017 #14
How much will you spend in 2017 #40 -
Hope this is not too late but I just wanted to add that I went in September in 2008 for 2 weeks and would not hesitate to go at the same time again. For the whole 2 weeks we had about 10-15 mins of rain. But as you know you can't predict the weather!
We stayed on Angaga in the South Ari Atoll however prices have gone up massively since we were there. It is a small island and takes about 10 minutes to walk round the whole island. We went half board. We spent around $400 (around £200 at the time) on extra food and drink but it would have cost us and extra £600/person to go All Inclusive. It is a real no shoes no news island.
I would suggest you head over to the Maldives forum on trip advisor for lots more advice on which islands to visit. Let them know your budget and what you are looking for from an island and they will come up with some options for you.
I am dying to go back again and could easily spend more than 2 weeks there. Even if you are unlucky enough to get some rain you are still in the Maldives and it is not the same as being stuck over here with our rain!0
