Over the hill?

Options
Looking at the Silver forum it seems as if we're all in God's waiting room! :( What action have you taken recently to prove to yourself that you're not over the hill?

I had a brilliant water pistol fight with 2 of my grandchildren yesterday. Tearing round the garden, squirting and being squirted back made me feel 10 again. :D

Sounds a lot of fun L-L. I spent an hour on the floor last week with Luke, age 3, playing with his huge collection of dinky toys (from his uncle and grandad). We were really into it. When Grandad said it was time for me to leave Luke and I both said "Ohhhh".

I always reckonned we started counting back down from age 50 - so I'm 43 again now!

Today was my first day back in employment after retiring two years ago. It's only a temporary job until September, a bit of photocopying, typing and answering the phone, but I feel invigorated! I'm 62, so there's hope for anyone who thinks they are past it!

Last week I helped out at a youth group as the usual leaders were away and for Child Protection reasons an extra female was needed. I realised just how long it has been since I have spoken to any teenagers. Not sure it made me feel young again however, but it did make me realise I must make the most of my delightful young grandchildren whilst they are still small. I'm not suggesting that all teens are horrible but there is a definite change in mentality. Small children are wonderful and so rejuvenating.

Oh no I aged a lot today - I became a Granda for the first time, when my DD presented me with a lovely boy Alex! (I'm only 56)
Guess I have a year to brush up on my footie skills! :D
  • On Saturday I had great fun splashing around in the paddling pool with my two grand-daughters. NAR you are still a spring chicken, get to work on those football skills!! Congratulations too and a big kiss of welcome to Alex!

I still have not got used to being officially a 'Pensioner' and reckon I still have loads to do and places to visit.

We are back to our UK house for six months in three weeks and I am going to explore the boundaries of my newly acquired bus pass and Senior Citizens' Railcard. :) My husband is going paintballing with our son (aged 30!).

As to what I have done that is 'young and silly' - I don't think my husband and I have ever really grown up and we still lark about and make each other laugh.:rotfl:

NAR, congratulations on becoming a Grandad. You now have a Licence to Spoil. :)

Been doing so much physical stuff in the garden lately haven't had time to feel like I'm in God's waiting room.

Actually, since I've retired and go to town during the day, rather than after school, I find I'm in the younger range of shoppers/ passers-by. :D

Keep learning new things/doing new things.

I've been going to adult beginners' swimming since last autumn. This half-term just ended, I'm really beginning to make some progress. Beginning to work through the 'scared out of my wits' feeling. There's a handful of us older women all go at the same time, just after the pre-schoolers' class!

I've also recently joined a gym. Alongside the young and fit, there are people in wheelchairs or taking their oxygen bottles with them everywhere. Youngest member is 14, oldest is 84.

I did GCSE Maths in my early 70s.

I wish I dared pluck up the courage to go to beginners' swimming but after such bad experiences when I was younger it will take a miracle. Congratulations on your efforts margaretclare.
