4 halifax accounts

I have discovered a way to have 4 halifax reward accounts. Open a joint one with your name first on the account, a second one with your partner as first named, one in your name only and one in your partners name only and as long as you don't mind moving money around this will net you £240 a year (£60 for each account) You have to pay £1000 a month in. win win I say!:T

I have also discovered a way to open additional Halifax / BOS reward accounts - offer a bottle of White Lightning Cider to staff at a branch in a Chav area

I can't see this lasting long, you're in breach of the terms of conditions. Perhaps they've not started screening for this type of "work around", but it's only a matter of time.
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

You have one too many joint accounts.

And to add to toher comments surely they will also notice that it is the "same" £1000 being transferred from account to account?

Nice workaround though if it works......

They haven't done in the last 16 months or so with my 4 sole Reward accounts. ;)
  • Haven't read the thread back to the beginning so apologies if I'm repeating previous 'news'

it took me an embarrasingly long time to realise you dont even need ONE lot of £1000......

I have three accounts each with £1 in them

I do an instant transfer from account 1 of £1000 into account 2 (I'm theoretically now £999 overdrawn in account 1 )

Then the same from account 2 to account 3

Then the same from account 3 back to account 1

Because of the way Halifax list its credits on a given day before its debits, not only do I never go overdrawn, but account 1 goes from a balance of £1 to a blance of £1001 (the transfer from account 3 to account 1 ) before it goes back down to £1 - and £1000 has never been near any of the accounts!

I do the same with my Abbey accounts, but because they list transactions in the right order, I do appear to go overdrawn for a while, but as its returned to the first account on the same day, no interest charged.......

It will presumably appear first thing tomorrow morning, just like normal (but with todays date).

Do you know whether you can transfer £1000 into your reward current account and transfer it back out again on the same day and still get the £5 interest for the month?

    Does anyone do this?
