lidl plants & compost etc

Lidl's growbags are ok. It's not as nice as the morrisons growbags though (although that smells more!)

I've been wearing gloves with all of it though as I've spotted some bits of glass in the lidl stuff (am going to write a letter ..)
I empty it out into pots for the tomatoes rather than grow them in the bags.

You can contact Lidl by email..I can't post links..go to customer information on Lidl.co.uk and Contact us on lhs of page.They are quick to phone for further detail and replied by letter within 3 days.
Probably got me on their list of grumpy old...:laugh:
Seeds are great value and I've never had problems with germination.

I bought phlox from lidls last year ,they flowered well,wasn,t expecting them to come back this year,but despite 8 inches of snow over the winter,they are up and looking great ,nearly ready to flower again.
Ditto for 2 aster plants,one of which was in the top layer of a 3 tier container ,its back up and flourishing.
Got 6 small fuschia plants,which I planted out 2 weeks ago ,they are just flowering,so I say well done to Lidls,and keep selling us your plants.

I bought geranims and fuschis from Lidle in April and they are doing brilliantly.

they are great. I have had fruit bushes from them before and they always grow, they come as sticks and in that season do nothing but the following season they go great guns. I have just bought a blackcurrant from them. Had gooseberry bushes from there before

a piccy here on my blog from yesterday (it came bare rooted). Also had compost from there and it is fine imo

Well, after writing that about the compost I opened another packet and it was awful.
Like others have said there were big twigs and bits of plastic in it. Even the finer bits were twiggy!

I bought some lidl peat-free compost a while ago, and it was dreadful - twigs, bits of painted wood etc...

I have since been buying Wickes (4 x 70l bags for £12) and it has been excellent stuff!

I often buy lidl seeds though, and they are fine.

My OH bought some packets of seeds from Notcutts (VERY expensive) and same plant seeds from Lidls. The Lidls ones shot up as healthy little plants, the Notcutts didnt even germinate

Id also say Focus has some great plants too. Our margueritas (absolutely gorgeous, covered in flowers and about 3 ft wide!) are literally 3 times the size of those bought from Notcutts which were 50% more expensive I shant buy from Notcutts again.

Unless Notcutts market their own seed, which I don't think they do, then your OH will have bought a particular brand.
However it depends what type of plants they were, but I very much doubt it was the fault of the seeds that they failed to germinate, the fault was almost without doubt yours, or maybe the composts.

As I said, it depends what they were and what they did when they didn't germinate.
