ASDA pinching money from my account

I cant believe ASDA!!!
They said they would refund my delivery charge for my last online shop asit was over 2 hours late. The money went in last friday but i also noticed they'd taken a pound out?!
After lots of calls and rants at customer services someone finally called me back today to say it was a computer error and as a "goodwill gesture" (not sure thats what i'd call it) they would credit my account with £5....
ANyway, just checked my bank account, no credit as yet, but they've taken ANOTHER POUND!!!!
They are in for a verbal kicking tomorrow.

Go to the police. There's obviously someone at their office stealing money from your account. Oh look, it was Asda!!
Incompetence, careless mistakes. Ignorance is not a defence. Why yes officer, I know I was doing 35 in a 30 zone, but I didn't mean it, Asda said it was ok and that mistakes happen. Here have a fiver, will that make it ok?0 -
Asda operate a weird system which 'earmarks' money in your account prior to a transaction and it shows as a debit of £1. This changes a few days later to show the correct debit or credit. It is very annoying and misleading and they need to fix it.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

You're right fifer, thats what they told me. However because they earmarked it i was unable to pay my water bill last friday! i account right to the last pound in my account now and this has caused no end of problems.
They have put it back now after me ranting at them this morning and i have asked for a call back from a manager.Last bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -

you will be waiting for a long time, they did something similar to me 3 times and everytime I've had to call up to get my money "released" so it could be used to pay my bills. I've asked to speak to a manager, I've written a letter of complaint and got no response from either.
So now I don't use asda home delivery, which is a shame because the service (other than the money issue) was really good.0 -
Just had a call back. They are going to put yet another credit in my account as "goodwill" but this means taking another pound. Crikey. I think i wont look at my account for a few days and see what exactly they are putting in...
I got told yesterday a fiver was going in and told this morning that they will put another credit on. is that 2 credits? or one? *confused*Last bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
I do use Asda home delivery as, other than this, the service is very good. If I needed to use every last pound in my account however, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. It seems bizarre though; no other retailer I'm aware of operates in this way. Is it legal? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Not sure.... if they do it jsut to check money is in account it probably is as they never actually "take" the money. It just shows as unavailable in my account. i know it was asda because i called my bank.
It is meant ot go straight back in as soon as its authorised but this didnt happen for me and they had to give it back manually.
I have an order due to be delivered on saturday. Fingers crossed its second time lucky. If not then asda wont get my online custom againLast bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -

lol, i got a problem with ADSA NOT taking money. We have our childs trust fund with them. Been going for about a year now. We add extra money to it by a direct debit each month. However on about 5 occasions now they write to us and say that they did not take any money this month and it will be collected at the same time as next months. DOH!!!!! What a stupid system.0
