Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper I've been Money Tipped!
Was told years ago to use milk.
As it's usually evening/night-time when/shops closed etc. I found this a really useful tip. Especially as most people will already have this at home and it will be ready chilled.

You could also soak some tissues in milk and leave on the affected area, rather than just dabbing it on.

We used P20 last year when we were on holiday and while it works well it also stained anything white! For this reason I wouldn't use it again.

It does tend to stain unfortuantely but I wait a while till it dries, might try the Calypso someone else recommended but I'm so light skinned daren't use anything else but p20 cos I used to burn badly and it's the worst thing ever!

another tip discoverd by accident for dry skin, i picked up the hair conditioner instead of the shower gel in a hurried shower one morning and noticed the differance all day my skin felt lovely especially my feet! do it in a regular basis now as i always seem to finish the shampoo bottle first and like to use complementing hair products :)
    I LOVE BETTY CROCKER
  • That's a great tip for the after-sun so thanks!
Thinking about buying the once-a-day sun cream but was unsure as I'd heard that it only protected all day against UVB (the burning one) but not UVA (the aging one). Does anyone have a bottle that they could check? Do you still have up top up with a normal sun cream as well? Thanks.

another thing that is good for sun burn is calomine lotion i have some in a spray bottle for my little girl as she burns all the time even with sun cream! i used some the other day before going to bed the next day the sun burn was gone and only 80p a bottle in tesco!:j

Might be good for it but isn't it the stuff that absolutely stinks? I am sure I had to use it when I had chicken pox and the stuff smells worse than sour milk, and has a similar consistency. :p

Buy a tub of Calomine & Aqueous (sp) Cream. It is brilliant for sunburn and minor skin complaints. It doesn't smell like normal Calomine and it moisturises the skin - and it doesn't dry "white" on the skin. Costs 1.20 from Tesco and lasts for ages.

Try using p20 sun lotion or p10 if you tan easier, it's a fab investment apply once a day (yes only once a day) I'm a bit of a redish head so burn from one touch of sun but with this stuff never burned in 5 years I've been using it (also good if you suffer from prickly heat cuts it right out).

Its also water proof, its expensive about £25rrp 200ml, best price I've found is £17 home & bargain, but you save in the long run cos it's only once a day application and it lasts ages and no need for any after sun

PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM FUTURE SKIN PROBLEMS PROTECT IT:T DON'T BURN

I have seen P20 in TK Maxx - I think it was £7.99. Not sure about the size though. HTH

We use Ambre Solaire Clear protect - best sunscreen I have ever used and not greasy or white but clear as the name implies.

They also do a kids factor 50 but we prefer a "visible" product for them so we can see where it is on.

It is usually on offer somewhere. Asda were doing it a month ago half price for £5 a bottle.

I won't use anything else after trying this stuff. I would seriously resent paying £25 for a bottle of sunscream and don't trust the once a day application claim.

My friend uses it but it is so high factor he doesn't get tanned.

Each to their own - just make sure you use something - sunburn is very unpleasant.

I agree it's brilliant stuff, but I'd always suggest applying it at least twice during the day - I went out once and had missed the tops of my knees, got the worst sunburn ever because the rest of my body was well protected, if I'd reapplied it later on in the morning, chances are I'd have got my knees with the second coat.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
