I saw some smart price sunscreen in asda for £1,79 and wondered if it would work a well as the 'five star rated' ones.
i think i must do, those ratings are probably made up advertising rubbish anyway. It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

my friend told me about that tesco lotion, she swears by it as an aftersun.
i have been using banana boat sun lotion factor 50 on my 2 year old son, hes been in the garden all day and hes not even slightly pink, it really works.
another tip is remember to put sun lotion on the tops of your ears, hairline and crown... people always forget that the sun can burn your head!!!0 -
I have an aloe vera plant, it is the best aftersun ever... but that lotion sounds great too. Thanks OPGet to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Its also water proof, its expensive about £25rrp 200ml, best price I've found is £17 home & bargain, but you save in the long run cos it's only once a day application and it lasts ages and no need for any after sun

Cheaper version is calypso once a day - found in matalan/ home bargains and its about £6 a bottle for same size as p20. Very similar ingredients to P20 and works just as well. Never been burnt with p20 or calypso...0 -
Another option on the once-a-day suncreams, is Boots/Soltan Once, you can get it in higher factors.
We also used to swear by P20, but if you sweat it does stain your clothes, ended up having to wear black, find Once does not stain.

SoutH Americans do this for non-sun burns too. half a tomato is perfect for treating a thumb when burnt taking pizza out of the oven! Chilled tomatoes even better.0 -

I use the Aloe Vera Gel from Holland & Barrett - it's 99.9% aloe, and currently on offer at £2.99 for 200ml tube and £1.99 for 100ml tube - both out of stock online tho :-(
And sometimes I mix in a little lavender oil too :-)
I would like to add some advice learned by unfortunate experience - if you are on medication and the leaflet states may cause increased sensitivity to sunlight, do not ignore the warning, and make sure you cover up and use higher than usual factor protection on the bits you can't cover !Google is my friend ..... :j0
