You can use other records, e.g. credit card bills as proof of purchase; the store isn't even legally obliged to provide you with a receipt in the first place.]

  • If you leave your details in any store these days then just ask for no marketing they can either tick the no marketing button or add a note to your details. I have no prob leaving my details as it makes me easier to trace if anything goes wrong

when I bought my laptop last year it was cash payment and they requested details - glad I gave them as I had a problem with it and as we had just moved I coudln't find the folder thing with the receipt in anywhere, when I rang them, it was all there and the receipt wasn't required.

To be honest the receipts they use nowadays do fade easily...

I found a good tip is to photocopy the receipt. I did this when registering an extended warranty and am glad I did as the original is almost illegible now.
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

I bought a computer from PC world at £399. When I got it home I realised there was no modem. I took it back the next day and was told if there was nothing wrong with the computer I couldn't get my money back. The salesman told me I could if I changed my mind. PC world offered to put me a modem in but I still wasn't happy. After 10 mins of the customer services guy telling me I couldn't have my money back - I told him I wanted to speak to a manager. He disappeared for 10 mins and came back and told me if the computer was all still there? I could have my money back! Success - only thing was it took him another 15 mins to go through the computer checking files and everything - as if I would have deleted anything !

  • I'll tell you something about PC World Receipts.

I have one that is 8 months old, and it has faded completely, apart from a few black spots of ink on there. Luckily it's only a set of speakers, and I am 100% satisfied so far (I hope they don't break).

I'd say photocopy PC World receipts! And others too probably!
