It's actually the "boxes", which doesn't allow the thread to flow.
Plus you have quotes in green, sigs in green where the person has used a quote....another box in the main post, the boxes in green, and it all becomes very difficult to seperate in your head. Thank a post, and you get more boxed green.
For instance, the quotes look like they are part of the "site" as it were, not part of the thread.
It's extremely difficult to get it right, but the boxing effects don't really help, hence why you don't see it on too many sites.
Boxing is ok, so long as the borders are small, in this case, they are all very large borders.
