I poured boiling kettle water on mine - fully defrosted in about 5 minutes! More water to soak up but if you put plastic on the floor and then towels, it all gets mopped up.0

I don't have a wallpaper steamer but I do have a regular steam cleaner. Would it be safe to use this to defrost my freezer?
Thanks!0 -
I've used one successfully in the pastPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

I very rarely need to defrost mine, it's been a few years since I last needed to do it. I only use it on and off, currently in a use phase and I have noticed that it is getting fairly icy.
I do have a wallpaper stripper purchased first and also various attachments that I purchased more recently about 2 or so years ago. One is a steam nozzle which should be perfect for defrosting the freezer. I have not used it yet for that purpose. lol I did say that I rarely defrost it and I wasn't lying. One day I will try it......0 -
Hi
My freezer door will not open obviously frozen shut (has been like this for a little while) so am braving and defrosting it now.
Has this happened to anyone? I turned it off at 1700 I am hoping to leave it overnight with paper and towels down and that the water leakage will not be that bad in the morning?0 -
I have an upright fridge freezer and the top shelf of the freezer has iced up so it's now like the slot of a letterbox! Do I really have to empty the whole thing out and turn it off to defrost it?
I was thinking of attacking the ice with a metal spatulas but I'm worried about damaging the element. Can I blast it with a hair dryer or something?0 -

Yes.
Metal spatula - very bad idea.0 -
How can it defrost if its still on? if you introduce heat while its freezing you will damage the motor by causing it to overwork.Wins: 2008: £606.10 2009: £806.24 2010: £713.47 2011: 328.320

I turn it off at the wall, empty it, then get a load of towels (usually dirty ones that need washed) and put them on the floor. Then, I get the hairdryer out. I blast the hard bits of ice that cling to the elements, then I use a knife to ease it off (much to the distress of my mother who keeps telling me to use a plastic fish slice incase I puncture the element lol). I did try the steam mop (the handheld bit) but I find the hairdryer works better and faster. Lots of water, but it gets the job done quick and you can turn your fridge/freezer back on in the nick of time0
