    HI Ladies

hope you don't mind me dropping in.

I have been asked to help my SIL with decorating her wedding cake. They need to cut costs and so are going to buy shop made plain cakes but would like to turn them into a wedding cake. At the moment we are not sure if they will have them stacked or on a swan stand.

    My questions are:

Where do we start :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I am not stupid and can probably make a rose from sugarpaste but thats my limit.

Any one have any tips and/or suggestions for me. I am looking into a short course in my area but struggling to find any that aren't full year courses which i just cannot afford (money or time wise)

If we go with stacked, do we have to support the cakes above? The bottom will be fruit as far as i know. the others sponge. I dont want them to sink!

They luckily want a fairly simple cake. if stacked, prob a flower coursage (spelling?) down 1 side and if on seperate stands, flowers on each cake...

How do you attach flowers? Can you use real flowers without staining or it tasting of flowers on the cake YUK!

Thanks for any help...if any of you fab ladies have any pics of anything that will help me i would appreciate it. :D

hi, this cake took me about 30mins to do. its basically a small silk flower bouquet that i bought ready made, and added some butterflies on wire to - also stuck a few around the cake to give a bit more interest

the cakes are from tesco - i used a fruit one for the bottom layer, and then the next two tiers are sponge

add some ribbon that matches and colour scheme, and bobs your uncle

a 3 tier decorated cake, that even my 3yr your old could assemble, and cost about £25 all in

sugarpaste flowers are really easy to make, but if you arent good at flower arranging, thats when it tends to go wrong, and you can spoil the overall look

if using real flowers, then a florist should be able to make small arrangements to sit on the cakes. you wont have to worry about poisoning people then, as the cut stems will be contained in an oasis/bowl and wont come into contact with the cake. also if you let them know they are to go on a cake, they should be able to wash and dry the heads too, so as to make sure there no pesticide residues, if you are really worried (but its not necessary)

    hiya

Using a 233 tip (grass tip) and different coloured buttercream, go around the outside of the cupcake make short strands of fur and continue going round working towards the middle.

The eyes are made using giant milky bar buttons and some choc writing icing that you can pick up from all supermarkets.

and then insert half or a full choc chip cookie into cake .

I actually made these for my team at work and they loved them!! giving that they are all adults.
